Dominic's POV

I pushed through the burning pain in my silver-poisoned arm, concentrating on establishing a clear mental connection with Rivera through our pack bond.

"Since we can't shake them off, we'll bring them all down at once," I said with grim determination, my mind already formulating the strategy. "If they're so eager to chase us, let's make sure they chase us right into our trap."

"I will lead them to the East District warehouse," I projected, ensuring my thoughts were focused despite the distraction of the searing pain. "You and Johnson need to be ready for ambush when we arrive."

Rivera's response came immediately, his mental voice steady and confident. "We will gather the warriors, Mr. Sterling. You only need to bring the enemies into the trap, and we'll handle the rest."

I glanced at my parents in the Bentley. My father sat regally in the back seat, his face a mask of calm calculation despite the chaos around us. My mother's eyes met mine in the rearview mirror, a silent question in her gaze.

"I need to make them believe we're desperate," I explained, deliberately easing off the accelerator to allow the pursuing vehicles to gain ground. "Let them think they're herding us exactly where they want."

The four black SUVs behind us adjusted their speed, maintaining their coordinated formation. They took the bait, closing the distance between us. In the mirror, I could see the lead driver's face now - cold, focused, professional.

"A classic misdirection," my father observed with approval. "Lead the predator to believe they're the hunter, not the prey."

I pressed the accelerator, feeling the luxury sedan respond with power. The Bentley shot forward, tires gripping the road as we pulled ahead of our pursuers. They followed immediately, engines roaring as they gave chase.

The suburban roads stretched before us, winding through the outskirts of the city toward the industrial district. I navigated each turn with precision, keeping enough distance to maintain control but allowing them to stay close enough to follow. My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles turned white, every muscle in my body tensed in anticipation.

A sharp turn nearly sent us into a skid, the tires squealing in protest as I pushed the vehicle to its limits. Sweat beaded on my forehead as I concentrated on the road, acutely aware that the smallest mistake could be fatal.

"These drivers are well-trained," my mother observed, her voice steady despite the high-speed pursuit. "Their coordination suggests military background."

"Most likely," I agreed, taking a sharp turn that sent us hurtling down a narrow side street. "But they don't know these roads like I do."

The pursuers split up – two vehicles following directly behind while the other two took parallel streets, attempting to cut us off ahead. My jaw clenched as I saw their strategy unfold. They were trying to force us toward the industrial district, exactly where we wanted to go – but on their terms, not ours.

I reached out through the pack bond again, connecting with Johnson this time. His mental voice came through clearly: "East District warehouse secured, Alpha. Ten warriors in position, ready on your command. Perimeter is set."

"Good," I responded. "We're bringing company. ETA fifteen minutes."

Suddenly, I felt a sharp tug at the edge of my consciousness – not from the pack bond, but from something deeper, more intimate. Rebecca. Our mate bond vibrated with urgency, a warning pulse that made my skin prickle. Through our connection, I could sense her fear, her determination, and... her proximity. She was coming for us, drawn by the danger I was in.

I tried to send reassurance through our bond, but the same interference affecting pack communications seemed to be impacting our connection as well. Still, I could feel her drawing closer, her presence burning like a beacon in my mind.

"Rebecca's coming," I muttered, my heart racing with both fear and admiration for her courage.

"What?" my mother asked. "How could she possibly—"

"The mate bond," my father interjected. "It's guiding her."

---

One of the SUVs accelerated suddenly, closing the gap between us. The heavy vehicle slammed into our rear bumper, sending the Bentley fishtailing across the road. The impact rattled my bones, the steering wheel nearly wrenched from my grip.

"They're getting impatient," I growled, fighting to regain control of the vehicle. "Hold on tight!"

I swerved left, then right, trying to shake off our pursuer, but they anticipated my moves, staying right with us. The road narrowed as we approached an underpass, concrete walls closing in on both sides.

Another impact rocked the car, harder this time. The Bentley skidded sideways, tires screaming against the asphalt. My heart hammered in my chest as we narrowly missed colliding with the wall, the side mirror snapping off with a crack.

"They're trying to force us off the road," my father said, his voice remarkably composed despite the danger.

A third hit came from the side, metal screeching against metal as one of the SUVs tried to push us into the concrete barrier lining the road. Sparks flew as the Bentley's side scraped against the barrier, the sound of tearing metal filling the car.

"They want to flip us," I shouted, wrestling with the steering wheel as we spun. "Brace yourselves!"

The Bentley tipped precariously on two wheels, teetering on the edge of rolling over. Time seemed to slow as I felt the vehicle begin to lift, gravity shifting sickeningly. My mother's sharp intake of breath and my father's low growl were the only sounds as we hovered on the brink of disaster.

Just as I thought we might lose control completely, I caught a flash of movement in my peripheral vision. A familiar Maybach came barreling around the corner, moving with impossible precision. She had timed her approach perfectly, accelerating directly toward the vehicle that was attempting to force us off the road.

The impact was tremendous. Rebecca's car slammed into our attacker at precisely the right angle, catching the larger vehicle in its vulnerable side panel. The sound of crunching metal filled the air as the enemy SUV spun away, its front end crumpled and smoking. The Bentley crashed back down onto all four wheels, the suspension groaning in protest but holding.

Through the windshield of her vehicle, I caught a glimpse of Rebecca. Her eyes were glowing gold, her hands gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles, her expression a mask of fierce determination. She had placed herself directly between us and our remaining pursuers, creating a protective barrier with her own vehicle.

The Bentley finally came to a stop at the side of the road, the engine sputtering before dying completely. The damage was too severe to continue. I quickly exited the vehicle, scanning for immediate threats while my parents followed.

Rebecca was already running toward us, her form shifting partially as she moved. Golden eyes, extended claws, slightly elongated canines – her wolf aspect emerging in response to the threat to her mate. Her movements were fluid and powerful, a perfect blend of human grace and wolf strength.

"Are you alright?" she demanded, reaching me and immediately examining the wound on my arm. Her fingers traced the veins where the silver poison was spreading, her touch gentle but urgent.

"I'm fine," I assured her, pulling her into a quick embrace. "How did you come here?"

"I'm worried about you," she said simply. "I could feel your pain, your direction. It was like following a golden thread through the city. I just... knew where you were."
