My Baby and I Died in Labor While He Celebrated Hers Chapter 7
Celeste’s POV
My father's fist connected squarely with Caspian's face. Blood burst from his nose, and he staggered backward.
The Council hall went silent. Every Alpha stared at the scene before them, the air thick with tension.
Caspian clutched his bleeding nose, eyes wide with disbelief. "Impossible... how can you be the Alpha King's daughter? You told me you didn't know where your parents were..."
I looked down at the man I had once worshipped—the man who had made me humble myself to dust. My voice cut like a blade of ice: "I didn't want to reveal my identity. And my father disapproved of us. I was stubborn. I hid who I was because I wanted to prove him wrong..."
My voice turned bitter. "Now I know just how foolish I was."
Caspian's head snapped up, a manic light in his eyes. He reached for me with blood-stained hands: "Celeste, I know the truth now! Genevieve is in the dungeon!" His voice turned pleading. "Please forgive me! Let me see our child... I don't even know if it was a boy or girl..."
Before he could touch me, I pulled away.
My palm connected with his face in a resounding slap.
"The baby is dead!" My voice trembled, but every word rang clear. "Because of you!"
Caspian reeled as if struck by lightning. "No... that's impossible... You're alive, so how can the baby...? You're lying to me!"
"The baby is dead, but we can have another one! Next time you're in labor, I'll be right by your side!" he screamed desperately. "Celeste, I won't let you leave me! Never!"
Looking at his "devoted" display, disgust and contempt welled up inside me.
"Don't you think," I said coldly, "it's a little too late for that?"
"Come back with me!" Caspian suddenly dropped to his knees at my feet. "Please! I'll make it up to you! I'll give you anything you want!"
I looked down at the man who had once made me look up to him, a mocking smile curving my lips. "Make it up to me? You have nothing left. What could you possibly give me?"
He tried to grab me and drag me away, but my father merely glanced in his direction.
An invisible force seized Caspian by the throat, forcing him to release me.
"Take your hands off my daughter!" My father's voice thundered through the hall.
At that moment, the Council Elder rose, holding an official document. His voice was grave and solemn:
"Hear now the judgment against Alpha Caspian Thorne!"
"It has been verified that during his tenure as Alpha, Caspian Thorne abused his mate, indirectly causing the death of the Alpha King's bloodline!"
"Caspian Thorne is hereby stripped of his Alpha status. He is sentenced to water cell imprisonment once per month—bound in silver chains and submerged in ice water for three days!"
"Furthermore, Genevieve Aldridge is sentenced to death for the murder of the Alpha King's bloodline!"
As the Elder pronounced his verdict, Caspian crumpled to the floor. He had lost everything—status, power, dignity.
And I had finally received justice.
