Secretary, Do You Want to Sleep With Me? Chapter 51

I stopped by Omar's office and told him what my father had said. I didn't mention that it was my idea for my father to pressure me into marrying Valeria and that I had steered the conversation to make it seem like it was his idea.

"You're very calm," he said suspiciously.

He knows me better than anyone.

I shrugged, pretending to be indifferent.

"I told him to give me a few days and then I'll talk to the press."

We met with Omar's father to discuss what to do about the temporary shelters.

It was the same story as my father's, or something similar.

"You had to sell the temporary shelters or at least find a credible front man. Instead, you put everything in the name of a 20-year-old girl just because you were sleeping with her."

"No, you're wrong. I wasn't sleeping with her. She had rejected me a thousand times."

Omar's father looked at him and then at me.

"Did your winning streak come to an end?" he asked, laughing and seeming to enjoy the answer to his question.

"Something like that. They're friends."

I explained that Vale and Emi have degrees in business administration and are still studying, but of course, he already knew that. He's a judge and has ways to investigate people.

"The thing is, they saw you with her several times. They took photos of you on many occasions. I personally had to make arrangements with the owner of some websites to say that she's the heir to that hotel chain. You could take advantage of this and legitimize the hotels by marrying her. It would all seem legal."

Omar spat out his whiskey.

He coughed so much that I thought he was going to lose his lungs.

"Did you conspire with my old man?"

"I don't understand you."

He looked at me over his glasses.

I got the feeling he already knew what my father had told me, although he had wanted to talk to Omar since we were in Spain. But Omar wanted to spend a few days with Emi in Europe. He had gone to Germany, I think he wanted to impress her. I hadn't been able to talk to him yet.

"My old man just pressured me to marry Valeria."

"I don't know how you managed it, but you two are constantly in the news. I think it's perfect for you to marry that girl. And let me tell you, for a while, you need to keep a low profile."

"Do you want us to get married on the same day?" I said, teasing him.

Omar looked at me, not understanding why I was joking about it.

He had no idea that I thought it would be great to spend some time sleeping with Vale every day. Later, I could find some excuse. Marriages aren't eternal, and if they are, I could have, I don't know, some apartment where I could have fun with some occasional ladies.

I needed to talk about all this with Omar. He was on the verge of a breakdown.

I thought he was involved with Emi. I was even going to tease him because I assumed he wasn't having any less action, just having sex with Emi and feeling ashamed for giving in.

Maybe it's all an act. Yes, that must be it. He couldn't have given in. We don't do that.

I left him with his father. I had to go by the company and see Valeria.

My anxiety is overwhelming when I don't see her, even for a little while.

When I arrived at the office, it was quite late, and Valeria was on the phone with someone from France.

She was assuring them that we wouldn't stop buying their products or reduce the quantity.

It had to do with the importation of Italian cosmetics.

I stood there listening to how her sweet voice sounded in French and the persuasion with which she spoke.

Her word is important within the company. If she gives an order, everyone follows it, and the same happens with suppliers.

She solves important issues, and now that everyone thinks she's my partner, they listen to her even more.

"I'm leaving. It's gotten late," she said.

"I'll tell Juan to take you."

"No, thanks. I'll pick up Emi."

"See you tomorrow. I don't even know why I came by the office."

"Did you talk to your dad?" she asked suddenly, anxious.

"Yes, don't worry. In a few days, I'll send a note to the press and that's it."

She smiled happily, with a sincere smile, one that is rarely directed at me.

I watch her leave, not sure why she didn't want Juan to drive her. It's night, not too late, but it's autumn, almost winter, and it gets dark early.

I called Omar to meet at our usual restaurant; he said yes.

I think it's because Vale and Emi are together tonight.

"Okay, whipped, finally letting go of your girlfriend a bit."

He responds with some insults, but we both know it's all in good fun.

I'm heading out in the car, with Juan driving. I usually have a driver, especially if we're going out to dinner, so I don't have to worry about drinking.

Juan is not just my driver; he's also my bodyguard.

My father has a driver and two bodyguards, which seems excessive to me.

Still, it's convenient to be driven around, and I can keep talking on the phone, extending my office hours a bit.

I glanced absentmindedly to my left and saw a car with its door open.

It caught my attention.

"Juan."

I said.

He was about to speed up to get us out of there when we both saw a man cornering Valeria.

Without thinking twice, I got out of the car, leaving the door open.

Juan got out instantly.

From inside the company, seeing the commotion, two security guards came out.

I went straight for the guy pulling on Valeria. She was yelling at him.

He had a gun in his hand.

I pushed him away from Valeria and punched him. He staggered, not expecting my fist in his face.

He raised the gun to aim at me, and one of the guards kicked his hand, knocking the gun away.

I punched him several more times, not stopping until he was on the ground.

I was about to kick him when Vale told me to stop, saying I'd kill him and it wasn't worth it. The guy was already half knocked out but still conscious.

"Calm down, Ale."

Valeria was crying.

I hugged her, asking if she was okay.

"Yes, I'm fine. He's Diego, my ex-boyfriend. He saw the photos and found out where I work."

I turned to keep hitting him, my fury growing.

That guy was a piece of shit!

Juan stopped me.

"Calm down, Ale."

"He left me for you, asshole. I'm going to report you for hitting me."

The guy said from the ground.

"Good luck with that."

Juan replied.

The security guards took care of everything. Of course, I wouldn't be implicated, and neither would Valeria.

On the other hand, if I had killed him or if my guards had, it would be self-defense. He was armed and had attacked Valeria.

They took the gun to get his fingerprints. He wouldn't be bothering anyone again.

I called Omar to tell him what happened and asked him to pick up Emi. I told him Valeria would stay at my place tonight.

Vale was crying and still trembling with fear.

She cried silently while I held her.

We got to my apartment, and I told Juan to order dinner for two.

He arranged everything.

I put ice on my hands, which were a bit swollen from punching that bastard.

The ice seemed excessive to me.

Valeria insisted I do it.

We stayed hugged until Juan returned. In moments like these, I wished we had a maid at home to serve dinner so we wouldn't have to move.

We were eating when my aunt called, very worried.

The security guards had called her, and she wanted to come see how we were.

I wasn't going to allow it.

Valeria was hypersensitive and completely vulnerable. Tonight was going to be my big night.

Yes, I'm a bastard, but ever since we got in the car, I haven't stopped thinking about it.

"We're fine, Aunt, and nothing happened. Let her rest and don't keep calling. We'll talk tomorrow, and if you want, come by the office, but not too early because I'm giving her the morning off to rest."

I didn't want her to interrupt me because in a few moments...

"How kind of you."

She said, suspiciously, interrupting my thoughts.

I finally managed to hang up.

Vale had taken the plates to the kitchen.

I poured her a drink of liquor. I wasn't going to give her whiskey because she'd fall asleep, and I had other intentions.

She hardly drinks any alcohol.
