The Day My Daughter Celebrated Chapter 13
Just as I rushed to the kitchen and grabbed the sharpest knife, the door burst open.
Mark Stevens wheezed, grinning maliciously as he walked in.
Seeing the knife in my hand, far from being afraid, he laughed even harder.
"Oh, quite the fighter."
"Why didn't you use a knife to resist back then?"
"You enjoyed it that day too, didn't you?"
He advanced toward me step by step.
"Stay back!" I screamed, wildly waving the knife.
"Come any closer and I'll kill you!"
"Kill me?" He acted like he'd heard the biggest joke. "With what—you?"
He lunged forward and easily wrested the knife from my hand.
Then he pinned me against the wall with the blade.
The cold steel pressed against my cheek.
"Nineteen years, I thought about you every day inside."
"Don't you think I should collect on those nineteen years?"
His filthy hands began tearing at my clothes.
The despair and terror from that rainy night nineteen years ago consumed me again.
I closed my eyes, tears falling silently.
Just then, an angry shout came from the doorway.
"Let her go!"
It was Stella!
I snapped my eyes open to see her standing in the doorway, holding a fire extinguisher.
Behind her were several uniformed security guards.
Mark clearly hadn't expected anyone to come. His movements paused.
He turned, saw Stella, and froze.
Then a knowing, greedy smile spread across his face.
"So this is my daughter?"
"She's even better looking than you were when you were young."
He released me and walked toward Stella instead.
"Perfect timing—saves me from having to find you."
"I hear you're an influencer now? Made good money, right?"
"Just in time to support your old man."
Stella said nothing, just gripped the fire extinguisher tighter.
Her eyes were cold and resolute.
An expression I'd never seen before.
"What? Don't recognize your dad?"
Mark was enraged by her stare.
"Little brat, just like your mother—ungrateful!"
Before he finished speaking, Stella moved.
She used all her strength to swing that heavy fire extinguisher straight at Mark's head.
Mark reacted quickly, dodging sideways.
The extinguisher hit his shoulder instead.
He screamed, thoroughly enraged, pulled a switchblade from his pocket, and lunged at Stella.
"Stella! Watch out!" I screamed.
The guards rushed forward, grappling with Mark.
The scene descended into chaos.
I only saw that gleaming blade whistling toward Stella.
Then Stella let out a muffled groan.
Blood gushed from her arm.
