The Possessive Alpha Chapter 121

******************

Stretching my sore limbs, the early morning sun peaks in through the window, opening my eyelids slowly to give my my eyes a moment to adjust to the glaring morning sun. As the haze of sleep falls away I jolt awake in bed, momentarily forgetting where I am.

A breath of relief escapes when I find Damon sitting next to me with a file in his hands, putting it away when he sees me awake. "Good morning, my Luna," he says with a warm smile, but it makes my stomach uneasy knowing we still need to have our talk.

"Good morning, Alpha," I reply, a blush creeping up my cheeks, "Can we have our talk now? We can't keep putting it off."

"No," he responds turning his body to face me, "we can't. What you did was....exactly what an Alpha would do."

"Wait..." I stall, because that's not the answer I was expecting to get from him. I figured him to be angrier. "What? Aren't you mad? Don't you hate me?"

"Don't get me wrong," he responds, running a hand along his face, "I was pissed at first, but Matt pointed out I would have done the exact same thing if roles were reversed. Can I really hold a grudge against you for doing what you were made to do? For following an Alpha's natural instinct to protect their pack. I just wish you trusted me enough to at least tell me." He grabs my hands his thumb stroking my knuckles in comfort as tears pool in my eyes threatening to fall over.

"I am sorry," I reply with guilt clearly written on my face. "Do you know how Alpha wolves are chosen?" I ask looking into his face.

"No...I thought it had to do with bloodline...." he trails off, unsure what this has to do with the topic at hand but leans forward with interest to hear what I have to say on the subject.

"Yes, and no," I explain, turning to face him completely crossing my legs in front of him, "every wolf spirit starts as the lowest ranking omega, and with each reincarnation depending on their actions of the previous raises through the ranks. It takes a wolf many lifetimes to achieve the rank of Alpha. Female wolf spirits have it tens times harder to achieve that rank, or the Goddess is more selective in their choosing because of what happens to them."

I pause, meeting mismatched eyes, trying to see if he knows where I am going with this conversation. Continuing with my story, "Scarlett was determined to achieve what she sacrificed lifetimes for. We love you, but it had nothing to do with you. I know it was the most selfish thing I have ever done but please don't hate me or us," I start rambling as the tears fall freely from my eyes, the reality of the last few days crashing into me like a fall hurricane.

"Bistuit," Damon says, pulling me into his chest, my body calming at his touch before wrapping me in his arms. "Shhh...my Luna...After the initial anger wore off, I realized that your entire life was being decided by everyone else but yourself. Even Slade and I made life decisions concerning you without your consent. He agreed to the spells without even talking to either of us about it. Plus some other information came to light you keeping me away from it all is the smartest thing you could have done. Otherwise I might not be alive right now."

"Is that why the council was here when we came back?" I ask him, pulling away from his chest, to look at him. Moving away has a growl leaving his chest as he pulls me back to him practically purring when my head is happily resting against rock hard chest.

"Yes," Damon sighs, kissing the top of my head, as his fingers run through my hair leaving delicious sparks in their wake. "They thought my parents orchastrated something nefarious to ge their hands on a Luna Born. Ironic they were willing to do the exact same thing they were accusing me of to get to you. They showed up the day after the ball. Had you been on the territory with a mark I would have been killed, so they could mate you with an Alpha of their choosing."

His words have stomach acid burning my throat, barely able to swallow it down, "that's horrendous," I shiver at the thought of someone else's mark sitting on my neck, if I survived Damon's death. Alpha's who lose a mate don't fare well. The Goddess doesn't give second chance mates often and any tales of them existing are considered fables of a long ago time. You get one destined mate, and that's it.

"Did you get my letter?" I ask wanting to change the subject of being abducted and forced to mate with another Alpha makes my skin crawl with disgust.

"Yes and no," he goes into detail of his time while I was off fighting my own battles. He told me about the fight with his dad, torturing Simon, and his parents being locked in the cells until he can figure out what to do with them. "The only thing I can't figure out is why you sent video clips if you had given a letter to the Beta?"

"Honestly," I respond, "I didn't trust any of the adults in our lives to follow through with what they say they're going to, always having their own agenda."

"Well," he says while kissing the top of my head, "you were right and wrong but it was a smart move either way. In fact, your entire plan was, I don't think you missed anything. Covering every aspect that could cause problems."

"Well, with the training my mother put me through I would expect nothing less," I sigh, recalling memories of running obstacles to I would vomit, fighting through the broken hands, poison training, running on literally no sleep. My mother made my life a literal hell with her control issues, and covert narcissism.

"Wait, you're remembering your past?" he asks, "and what else happened to you while you were gone?" So I told him everything, from Jonah handing me over, to the deal I made with Xander. I also explained everything Tiberius did while I was there. I described the treatment of Omega's in the pack causing Damon's anger skyrocketing.

"My guess is that the venom I put in the dart used on you was to busy breaking down the silver and wolfsbane to be of use," I say speculating on why my venom was useless in those few days afterwards.

"Why did you let Jonah get away," Damon growls, anger rolling around in the room, "he should pay for what he attempted."

"It wasn't about Jonah," I explain, my voice stern, not relenting on this matter. "It was about his mate Tiffany. They raped her, Damon. He had to feel her being raped and assaulted. Had I killed Jonah she never would have survived, without him to help her. Trust me, he is getting his punishment. She wouldn't even look at him when they did the trade. Every time she refuses him he will be reminded of why, and it'll kill him slowly inside."

"Shit," he growls, pulling me closer, "I couldn't even imagine what I would do if I had to experience that. I don't think I would ever forgive myself for letting that happen to you."

"Jonah won't either," I say, trying to let the sparks comfort me as I prepare to tell him what happened between my mother and I.

"There's more," I start, stumbling over my words worried he'll think differently about me when he finds out the kind of monster I am. "My mom was alive the whole time. She used the fued between my father and Tiberius to "create the most powerful Luna Born," as she likes to put it. She roped in your family trying to tell me that she used a witch to create the bond between us."

My words cause a loud laugh, as he shakes his head taking in a few steadying breaths, "Well, then she got scammed." He says through the lingering laughter, "no witch has the power to interfere with what's predestined by the Goddess. They can reveal a bond that was already there not create a new one. The Goddess picked us for each other."

"I know," I respond, "but I couldn't help but let her words affect me, and it's why I ran straight to you after the war was done. I needed to know once and for all plus I missed you more than anything."

"What happened to your mother?" he asks, not pausing for a breath before rattling off the next one. "Is she back at Silver Run in the cells? I called Theo today by the way, and he says the pack is doing fine."

"My mother is dead," I respond, keeping my voice and demeanor calm, as I look him in the eye. "I killed her in self-defense. Plus, I would always fear her interfering when I am ruling the pack. I couldn't trust her not to put herself in a position of controlling Silver Run."

"I am sorry you had to make that decision Biscuit," he wraps himself into my chest, his scent filling my notrils as I snuggle closer into his embrace. Rolling me onto my back Damon, rests on his elbow with head in his hands.

Pulling my chin towards him, "I don't think less of you for making the choices you have, but going forward we have to be honest, and in agreement with our decisions. We have two packs to rule together and it'll be impossible to do that if we cannot work together putting both territories at risk. Promise me you'll never pull a stunt like that again without my knowledge I might go crazy with worry."

"I promise," I say, grabbing his face in my hands staring into his eyes, "I will never make that same mistake again. I have learned my lesson."

"Well," he says, "who would I be if I didn't forgive you? As you mentioned the night of the ball we are all allowed one mistake. Although, I never consider you being an Alpha as a mistake, but that you never told me."

I can't help the warmth of gratitude flowing through my chest as I stare into the eyes of the love of my life. The Goddess was right when she said she paired us together for a reason. Before I can catch the words leave my mouth, my bare neck begging for his canines to sink in, "mark me, please Damon? Scarlett and I are ready to be yours and Slade's Luna forever."

Not needing further encouragement, Damons lips find mine in fury, our lips working together as fireworks erupt around us. The world around me slowing down as his fingers stroke different parts of my body soft mews of wanton desire leaving my mouth.
