Three Slaps at the Wedding

My best friend got married in a white wedding dress.

Without a word, I rushed onto the stage and slapped her twice across the face in front of all the family and friends.

Her husband, parents, and in-laws—not one of them stopped me.

As my best friend stared at me in shock, I raised my hand again.

She screamed in terror, "I'm calling the police!"

Her husband grabbed her hand.

"If you dare call the police, I'll cancel the wedding."

Before I struck, I asked her seriously, "Why did you choose a white wedding dress?"

My best friend Rachel didn't hesitate. "What else would you wear to a wedding besides white?"

I was horrified.

I walked over and slapped her across the face.

A maid of honor striking the bride—unprecedented.

The guests erupted in whispers, all speculating about what grudge Rachel and I could possibly have that would make me attack her on such a joyous occasion.

Rachel was stunned by the unexpected slap, stumbling back two steps and nearly falling.

Her husband, Ethan Grant, stood right beside her, completely unmoved.

"Mia, have you lost your mind?" Rachel roared at me. "If you have a problem with me, say it! Why are you hitting me for no reason?"

"Are we still best friends?"

"Yes," I answered decisively. There was no question about that.

Rachel touched her swelling cheek, looking aggrieved.

"Then if you have something to say, just say it. No matter how hot-tempered you are, you can't just hit people."

I forced down my emotions. "Do you really not know why I hit you?"

Rachel shook her head in confusion.

After thinking for a moment, she asked, "Did I do something to hurt you?"

I sighed deeply and beckoned to her.

"Come here. I'll tell you."

The moment Rachel stepped in front of me—slap!

I hit her again.
