Cole's POV

I jump into my car, seeing him sprinting toward me as I turn on the engine and shove the gear into reverse. His bloody palm slaps into my window, but I’m already gone.

He’s trying to chase the car, but fails as I speed off.

My heart races so fast, pounds so hard, I think it might explode out of my chest cavity. From tensing up so much, my ribs ache, and I think I might be sick.

I drive to the dorm I haven’t been in for weeks now. Dragging myself out of the car, I ignore the two guys smoking outside as I throw the entrance door open and head to the third floor.

Mia opens the door in her PJs, her eyes wide. “Cole?”

I barge past her and into the dorm room, pacing in the middle of the open-planned kitchen. I tug at my hair as she closes the door, rubbing her arm.

“What’s wrong? Why do you have blood on you?”

“I beat up Blaise,” I say, needing to try to calm down. I’m getting lightheaded and I think I might pass out. “Can we go to your room?”

She tilts her head, then nods, and I follow her. Her PJ shorts are basically up her crack, and her top is barely covering her skin. Blaise used to fuck her, Blaise used to love her and care for her. He once told his dad that he might marry her one day, but I had a feeling it was just to make himself look like the good guy, because he never truly wanted Mia.

Yet he made me fuck her.

I should fuck her again for revenge.

Mia glances over her shoulder at me, and I don’t shy away as her tentative fingers curl around mine, pulling me in as she opens her room door. The lamp is on, giving it a soft glow. Her fingers slip from mine as she closes the door behind us.

I think my intentions are clear, and she knows it too. But I don’t actually want to be here. I want to be with Blaise, in bed, exploring his body while learning shit about him I don’t already know.

I don’t leave, though. Mia watches me walk around her room.

“I didn’t tell Blaise I cheated on him with you because I thought it was our secret. I thought you knew.”

“I didn’t.”

“Why are you here now?”

I shrug, my heart hammering. “I just drove here.” Without thinking, my car brought me here. Like my conscience knew I needed to get back at Blaise.

Mia’s room is the same layout as Allie’s. But more pink, with a book opened in the middle of the bed. I pick it up, dog-ear the corner, and toss it on her dresser before dropping onto my back on her mattress.

I should leave.

This is a terrible idea. I feel nothing for her.

She stares at her book, then looks at me. “Are you okay?”

I sit up and grab her hand, pulling her between my parted legs. “No.”

She doesn’t pull away when my fingers grip her thigh. Her hands rest on my shoulders. “Is Blaise okay? If you said you beat him up?”

A shaky hand lifts to my face, and I don’t even realize it’s my own. I rub my eyes, seeing the cracked, torn flesh of my knuckles. I study it, checking my other hand, then putting both of them on her hips.

“I need you to make me forget,” I say, hating myself, but needing to do something to get back at Blaise. “Without it meaning anything.”

Mia frowns, her hand sliding up the side of my neck and into my hair. She leans down to kiss me, but I tilt my face to the side.

“No,” I say. “Don’t kiss me.”

Nibbling her bottom lip, she teases her fingers at the seam of her sleep shirt, then pulls it up and over her head.

My cock doesn’t get hard, or even twitch. I don’t even want to palm her tits. I force my hand onto her chest, but freeze all over.

I don’t want to do this.

I can’t.

My hands slip away, and I stare up at her. “I love Blaise,” I say. “I can’t do this with you.”

“He doesn’t need to know.” She grabs my wrists and pulls them back to her chest at the same time as she climbs into my lap. “We can do this. I’ll make you forget.”

I gulp, shaking my head, but she fists my hair behind my head and forces her mouth on mine. The mixture of being stoned, drunk, and heartbroken, I struggle to fight her off as she pushes her tongue into my mouth.

In half a second, Mia is pulled off me, and a fist slams into my face so hard, I see stars in my vision.

I groan and squint up to see Blaise with a deathly look in his eyes. They flicker between a topless Mia and me on her bed, and he grabs Mia by the throat and throws her toward the door.

“Get the fuck out,” he orders, watching as she covers herself and runs out of the dorm.

He turns to me, dried blood on his face, grinding his teeth together.

And punches me again.
