Bound by Contract to the Alpha Chapter 154
Dominic’s POV
Our eyes locked, a silent communication passing between us that went beyond words. I could feel her relief, her lingering fear, and underneath it all, her fierce love. She didn't need to say anything – I could read it all in her eyes, in the way her hand remained protectively on my arm, in how her body positioned itself between me and the direction our attackers had fled.
My father approached, inclining his head respectfully to Rebecca. "Perfect timing, Rebecca. Your intervention was... most appreciated."
My mother joined us, her usually critical gaze softening slightly as she looked at Rebecca. "Indeed. Quick thinking."
Rebecca nodded acknowledgment, but her attention never fully left me. Through our bond, I could feel her assessing my condition, her energy already reaching for mine, trying to soothe the silver burn spreading through my arm.
Before we could say more, I felt Rivera's presence in my mind again. "Plan successful, Alpha. All four vehicles followed the decoy to the warehouse. We have them surrounded and contained."
Relief flooded through me. "They took the bait," I told my family. "Rivera and Johnson have them trapped at the warehouse."
"Any casualties?" my father asked immediately.
I relayed the question through the pack bond, and Johnson responded this time. "Three injuries on our side, none fatal. Four hostiles in custody, all alive for questioning."
"Excellent work," my father said when I shared this information. "Your strategic thinking is maturing nicely, son. You're developing the mind of a true Alpha."
The praise warmed me, but I was more concerned with what came next. The silver poison was spreading visibly through my arm, dark lines tracing the path of my veins like small rivers of pain.
"Father, please take Mother back to the Sterling mansion," I said decisively. "Coordinate with the pack elders and ensure everyone is safe. I'll handle the interrogation at the warehouse."
My father studied me for a moment, then nodded. "The entire pack will need reassurance after today's events. I'll address the elders' concerns." He turned to my mother. "Marianne?"
She was looking at my arm with evident worry. "That silver wound needs immediate treatment, Dominic. The poison is spreading toward your heart."
"I'll take care of him," Rebecca said firmly, already taking my hand in hers. "I can help."
My parents exchanged a meaningful look before my father spoke again. "Very well. We'll return to the mansion through the forest route." His lips quirked in a rare show of humor. "I've had enough of cars for one day."
With that, they both shifted smoothly into their wolf forms – my father's coat silver-gray and imposing, my mother's slightly smaller but no less regal. They disappeared into the trees at the side of the road, moving with the silent grace that came from decades of experience.
Once they were gone, Rebecca immediately focused on my arm. "The poison is spreading fast," she said, her voice tight with concern as she examined the dark lines now reaching toward my shoulder.
"It's manageable," I tried to assure her, though the burning sensation had intensified to an almost unbearable level.
"No, it's not." She took my hand in both of hers, her expression determined. "Focus on our bond, Dominic. Feel my energy and let it flow into you."
Without questioning her, I closed my eyes, trusting her completely. Our bodies swayed closer together, foreheads almost touching, creating an intimate circle of energy between us. I could feel her breath against my face, steady and rhythmic, guiding my own breathing to match hers.
I did as she asked, concentrating on the golden thread that connected us. I visualized our bond as a pulsing line of light between us. As I focused, I could feel Rebecca's energy – warm, vibrant, and healing – reaching for mine.
Almost immediately, a soft golden light emanated from where her skin touched mine. It wasn't just visual – I could feel it, a warmth that contrasted sharply with the icy burn of the silver. The light seemed to seep into my veins, following the path of the silver poison and neutralizing it wherever they met.
The sensation was extraordinary – like liquid sunshine flowing through my body, driving out the cold poison that had been spreading through my system. The dark lines in my veins began to recede, and the pain diminished significantly as the golden energy from our bond counteracted the silver's effects.
Rebecca's eyes never left mine during the process, her gaze intense and focused. I could feel her pouring her strength into me, our connection deepening with each passing second. It was as if we were breathing as one person, our hearts beating in perfect synchrony.
---
"How did you do that?" I asked, genuinely impressed as I watched the poison's effects fade before my eyes.
She looked slightly surprised herself. "I'm not sure. I just... knew I could help. I focused on our connection and pictured my energy healing yours." She looked up at me, a hint of wonder in her eyes. "Our bond seems stronger now, especially since Lucas was born. I can feel you more clearly, sense what you need."
I flexed my arm, testing it. The pain had receded to a dull ache, and the dark lines had faded to barely visible traces. "Your healing touch is better than any medicine," I told her with a smile. "Thank you, little doe."
Her eyes softened at the nickname, but quickly grew serious again. "We need to go to the warehouse. I want to know who's behind this attack."
I nodded, appreciating her determination. "It could be dangerous. These people tried to kill us."
"All the more reason for us to go together," she replied firmly, her hand finding mine and squeezing it with reassurance. "I want to look in the eyes of anyone who would threaten our family."
The way she said "our family" filled me with a fierce pride. There was no hesitation in her voice, no uncertainty. She had fully embraced her role as my mate, as Luna, as mother to our son, and now she stood ready to face whatever threats came our way.
I took her hand, leading her toward her car, which had sustained damage but was still operational. "You know," I said as I opened the door for her, "you're the bravest Luna I've ever known."
She smiled, her eyes flashing gold momentarily. "I'm just protecting what's mine."
As I slid into the driver's seat, I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride in my mate. The woman who had once been uncertain of her place in our world was now fearlessly standing beside me, ready to face our enemies. Through our bond, I could feel her determination, her fierce protectiveness of our family.
"This time," I said, starting the engine and pulling away from the scene of our near-disaster, "we'll find out who's really behind all this. No more shadows, no more guessing."
Rebecca nodded, her jaw set with determination. "Whoever it is, they'll learn what happens when they target our family."
Looking at her profile in the dim light, I was struck by how much she had changed – and how much she had changed me. Whatever enemies we faced, we would face them together, our bond stronger than any threat that came our way.
"Let's go see who tried to kill us," I said, directing the car toward the East District warehouse where our enemies awaited.
