Sinful Mates Chapter 114: One hundred and fourteen
Sitting up, it growls menacingly, and I scramble backwards on my hands trying to get away from it when suddenly my hands hit boots making me look away from the beast. Thaddeus has his arms folded across his chest and an amused expression on his face. “It’s Ryland he won’t hurt you” Thaddeus says looking down at me. Looking back at the dog beast, it licks a long line from chin to my hairline. I push its face away and gag as drool covers my face. The dog makes a weird noise, and it almost sounded like it was laughing at me.
“Gross, why would you do that”
Thaddeus grips me under the arms, pulling me to my feet. Suddenly I hear the sound of bones cracking and Ryland grabs my hand, making me look at him and he is naked. My mouth falling open and I quickly avert my eyes. “What you expect my clothes to remain?” He asks laughing.
I pull my hand from his and walk ahead; I hear them both sigh and follow. Heading inside, Orion is sitting in the lounge room. Looking at the grandfather clock beside the fireplace, I see it is midnight. My hair had grass in it and I was feeling itchy. When Thaddeus walks in with Ryland, Orion raises a brow at him being naked. Yet I can also see lust behind his glowing eyes.
“So if all of you are gay, why am I here?” I ask, looking at each of them.
“Because your our mate” Thaddeus says confused.
“But your gay?” I say and they shake their heads. We aren’t anything, not gay not straight not Bi” Ryland answers confusing me further.
“Sexuality isn’t a thing when it comes to mates, you could be unicorn and we would still be attracted to you, still want you, that’s how mate bonds work, once you find your mates that’s all you care about”
“So you have been with other women?”
“Yes, but not like with you, they were merely toys and dinner,” Thaddeus said coldly.
“Right still makes no sense to me, but can I go shower?” I ask.
“Orion will bring you in a towel” Thaddeus says and I watch Orion get up off the lounge and I walk upstairs.
Waiting for Orion to come into the room, I sit on the end of the bed. Orion walks in a few minutes later with a towel and some clothes. Taking them from him, I walk into the bathroom. Orion sits next to the sink and I stare at him.
“What are you doing? Get out” I tell him but he doesn’t budge just pulls his phone out playing candy crush. Ignoring him, I keep my back to him before stepping in the shower and turning it on. The shower has a frosted glass door, so I feel a little better that I know he can’t see me. Honestly, though Orion didn’t bother me, he always seemed calm and had a carefree personality that I found to be relaxing.
Rinsing my hair I hear the shower door open, I try to wash the soap that was now burning my eyes from my hair only to open my eyes and see Orion standing next to me; he reaches past me grabbing the soap, yet his eyes never wander down, in fact they don’t leave mine. “Chill Evelyn I am just showering with you, not a big deal we are all adults” He says before he washes himself. My eyes trailing over the lines of his chest and lower to his ass when he suddenly turns, giving me an eyeful of himself.
“God, you act like you never seen a man before” He sighs and my cheeks heat.
“What, you never seen a man naked?” He asks, shocked.
“No, I have seen men naked just not this close to me just standing there, and not where I can actually see them” Orion’s brows furrow confused and I turn looking away from him.
“So you aren’t virgin then?” He questions. I didn’t answer. What do you class as a virgin anyway, does rape count as losing your virginity? I like to think it doesn’t, I think of virginity as something you willingly give, not something one takes. I had definitely come across my fair share of scum bags in my twenty-years of life. Saw and witnessed more than any person should have at my age. Foster care is supposed to be a safe place for children to grow until they are returned to their families or adopted. Unfortunately, there are many people that see being a foster carer as an opportunity to torture their victims before we are shipped off to the next house. Not all are bad, but I seemed to be a magnet for the horrid ones, nothing worse growing up never catching a full nights sleep for fear of who may be trying to creep into your room, or fear of the monster that sleeps in the room next yours.
Orion realising I won’t answer changes the topic as he hands me the soap. “The burn on your back, how did that happen?” Thaddeus asked the same question earlier. Yet Orion asking didn’t irritate me as much.
“Why? Does it bother you?” I ask. Orion shakes his head.
“No, just curious. Its looks like it would have hurt,” He replies.
“yeah it did, doesn’t anymore I often forget it’s there” I tell him truthfully.
“So what happened?”
“Does it matter? It was years ago not a pleasant memory”
“How old were you?”
“Sixteen” I answer.
“So a house fire?” He asks and I can tell by the look on his face it is eating at him, not knowing.
“Did you do something to Vick?” I ask, changing the subject. Ever since the day they first kidnapped me, I had this nagging feeling Orion did something to Vick. It was very unusual that he randomly went on holidays when I have never known the man to leave, even for a weekend.
Orion’s eyes darken for a second. “You killed him, didn’t you?”
“Do you really want to know?” I shrug, not sure if I really did, want to know. I hated Vick. He was slimy and a sleaze but that didn’t mean I necessarily wanted him dead. But from the look on Orion’s face, I knew nothing good came of him.
“Come on” Lets hop out. You must be hungry” He says opening the shower screen and grabbing a towel and handing it to me, he wraps another around his waist before stepping out. I wrap the towel around myself and follow him into the room. Quickly chucking on a shirt and a pair of shorts that Orion gave me. “Thaddeus is making pancakes” Orion says when we finish getting dressed. Orion grabs my hand, pulling me from the room and taking me downstairs.
Walking in the kitchen, Thaddeus was indeed making pancakes, my belly rumbling loudly from the aromatic smell of melted butter and golden syrup.
“I did not picture you being one to cook” I tell him sitting at the island bench next to Orion. Thaddeus looks back at me before turning and placing a plate of pancakes on the centre of the bench. Orion hands me a plate and dumps a heap of pancakes on my plate before I slide a couple off, knowing I couldn’t possibly eat that much.
Cutting off a piece, I pop it into my mouth and nearly moan at the taste, so fluffy and it melted in my mouth.
”Good?” Thaddeus asks, a smirk on his face.
“Very" I tell him.
“So how long have you guys lived here for?”
“Can’t remember a while”
“Where were you before here then?” I ask, wondering if I get any of them to accidently slip up about our location.
“Everywhere, travelled before that, and mainly with my parents” Thaddeus answers.
“You have parents?”
“Everyone has parents, Evelyn” Thaddeus says. Well biologically, yes, but one thing I have learnt blood doesn’t make a parent. As far as I was concerned, I didn’t have any.
“You know what I meant” Thaddeus nods.
“Yes, I know what you meant, Evelyn, and yes my parents are still alive. I also have a sister” He says making me look up at him. He was staring off into space for a second before he shook his head, snapping himself out of it. I wondered where his mind took him in that moment.
“What about you?” I ask, looking at Ryland.
“Mine are dead, killed by the council”
“Council?” I ask.
“Just think of it as supernatural law enforcement” Ryland says. Looking to Orion, I don’t even have to ask he just answers.
“No family, they died before I was changed. This here, all the family I have and need” He answers, I nod.
“What about you? What are your parents like” Ryland asks.
“Don’t know, never met them” I answer before popping more pancake in my mouth and chewing.
They seem to think for a second, before Orion asks another question.
“What about other family?”
“No idea, I grew up in foster care”
“And the fosters carers never had any information on them”
“Nope, I was dropped out front of a church when I was a few days old, a nun found me”
“That explains the newspaper clipping we found” Ryland says, looking at Thaddeus.
“Newspaper clipping?”
“Yeah, the box we found under your bed” I nod, not really knowing what to think about knowing they snooped through my stuff. Not like I had much or anything valuable.
“Your not upset we went through you stuff?” Thaddeus asks. Shrugging, I pick up my plate and wash it in the sink.
“Not really, I doubt you would have found much, besides everyone has skeletons in the closet” I tell him.
“And what are yours then?” Thaddeus asks curiously.
“You tell me yours and I will tell you mine” I challenge. He shakes his head.
“That’s what I thought”
“Like the burn on your back?” Thaddeus says.
“Yes, exactly like that” I tell him.
