The Princess's Revenge Chapter 37

Logan’s POV

The guard dragged the female rogue into the room, her naked body trembling as he threw her into the stone chair. Her eyes were wide with terror as he began strapping her down with thick leather restraints.

"Stop moving, bitch!" he snarled, yanking the bindings tight around her wrists and ankles.

I watched from the doorway as he secured her to the chair. Her breathing was rapid, panic clearly overwhelming her. When the guard ripped the dirty rag from her mouth, she immediately began screaming.

"I don't know anything! Please! I don't know anything!"

"Leave us," I commanded the guard.

He bowed quickly and left, closing the heavy door behind him. I could see the woman flinch at the finality of it.

I walked slowly toward her. She pressed herself back against the chair as much as the restraints would allow, her eyes darting between my face and the torture instruments hanging on the walls.

"Who ordered the attack on my pack?" I asked, my voice calm.

"I don't know!" she sobbed. "I swear to you, I don't know anything!"

I studied her face carefully, looking for any sign of deception. Her terror seemed genuine, but rogues were often good liars.

I walked to the wall and selected a thin metal blade and I watched her eyes widen with horror.

"Let's try again," I said, turning back to face her. "Who sent you?"

"I don't know!" she screamed. "They never told us names!"

I moved behind her chair and placed the blade against her shoulder. She could feel the cold metal against her skin, and her whole body began to shake.

"Please," she whispered. "I'm telling the truth."

I pressed the blade deeper, drawing a thin line of blood across her shoulder blade. "How did you get past our guards?" I asked, moving the blade to her other shoulder. "How did you bypass our patrols?"

"I don't know!" she gasped through her pain. "We just followed the others! The path was clear! No one stopped us!"

I drew another line with the blade, this one deeper. Blood ran down her back as she sobbed.

"Someone cleared that path for you?" I said coldly.

"I don't know about that!" she cried. "I just followed orders!"

My anger flared. There had to be a traitor in my pack.

Dorian? The fury burned in my chest like acid.

"Do you know who the spy is?" I demanded, moving the blade to her ribs. "What do they look like?"

"I don't know!" she screamed as I cut her again. "I never saw anyone! We were just told where to go!"

I grabbed a pair of iron pincers from the wall and heated them over one of the candles until they glowed red-hot. Her eyes went wide with terror.

"Were you part of the attack at Marcus's funeral?" I asked, holding the hot metal close to her skin.

"No!" she sobbed. "I wasn't there! This was my first job!"

I pressed the heated pincers against her thigh. The smell of burning flesh filled the chamber as she screamed in agony. Her whole body convulsed against the restraints.

"What else do you know?" I asked, my patience wearing thin. "Tell me something useful, or this continues."

She was gasping for breath now, her face pale with pain. Blood and sweat covered her body. For a moment, I thought she might pass out like the male rogue had.

"Please," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "Please stop."

"Talk," I commanded.

She lifted her head slowly, tears streaming down her cheeks. When she spoke, her voice was weak.

"Aldermere," she gasped. "Five hundred troops. Elite soldiers."

I felt my blood turn to ice. "What about them?"

"They're massing," she continued, struggling to get the words out. "Three days. They cross the river in three days."

"Where?" I demanded, grabbing her hair and forcing her to look at me.

"Eagle's Beak," she whispered. "The weak point in your border defenses."

My blood turned to ice. Eagle's Beak Canyon. She was right - that was our most vulnerable position. Only someone with intimate knowledge of our border defenses would know that specific weakness. The rage that exploded through me.

Five hundred elite troops. In three days.

"Fuck," I snarled under my breath. If Aldermere broke through at Eagle's Beak, they could bypass Ironwatch Border entirely. They could cut off our supply lines, surround our main camp from behind. Worse - they could march straight for King's Fang while our forces were trapped at the border.

The winter hadn't been severe enough this year. The ice on Grey River might not hold the weight of a full army, but I couldn't take that risk.

I had to get back to Ironwatch Border immediately. I had to take personal command of the defense, or we would lose everything.

"Is there anything else?" I demanded, fighting to control the fury in my voice.

The female rogue was gasping for breath, her body shaking with pain. "Please," she begged, tears mixing with the blood on her face. "Please don't kill me. I've told you everything I know."

I walked to the wall and pulled down a sword. The woman's eyes went wide with terror as I approached her chair.

"Please, no!" she screamed, struggling against the leather restraints. "I have children! Please!"

Children. The word hit me like a physical blow. For a split second, I hesitated. Then I remembered the bodies in my courtyard. The pack members torn apart by her kind.

I placed the blade against her throat. "Any last words?"

"Please don't—"

I drew the sword across her throat in one swift motion. Blood sprayed across the chamber, coating my face and clothes in warm crimson. Her body convulsed once, then went still. The silence that followed was deafening.

I turned to look at Valencia, and my heart sank. Her face was pale as death, her purple eyes wide with terror. But it wasn't just shock I saw there - it was fear. Fear of me.
