You Are Most Beautiful Through the Lens Chapter 3

Back home, I picked a few photos Ethan took and posted them on Instagram.

The caption was simple: "Turns out, I can be beautiful too."

Less than five minutes after posting, the comments exploded.

"Omg! Babe, did you transform? You look stunning!"

"Who took these? The photographer is insane!"

"Sis, tell us, is there a new guy?"

I was about to reply when I saw Ethan had posted a new update.

Nine photos. All of me.

In the exhibition hall, under the light and shadow. Profile, front view, looking down, looking up.

Every angle was different, but every single one was so beautiful it made my heart flutter.

His caption: "Between light and shadow, some people are born to be recorded. Honored to capture your beauty."

My phone was blowing up.

Madison: "SKYLAR HAYES!!! What is happening?!"

Emily: "Wait, isn’t this Ethan from the Photography Club? The campus heartthrob?"

Jessica: "I came from his page. Oh my god, are you guys..."

Then, Tyler called.

I looked at the flashing name on the screen, hesitated for three seconds, and answered.

"What the hell are you doing?" His voice was suppressed with rage.

"Excuse me?"

"Don’t play dumb, Skylar. Ethan posted so many photos of you. What are you trying to do? Trying to make me jealous?"

"Tyler, we broke up."

"Broke up?" He sneered. "You think I don't know what game you're playing? You just want to make me jealous, right? Purposely finding a hot guy to take pictures of you, and then—"

"Tyler Henderson," I interrupted him, my voice surprisingly calm. "Do you remember how many photos you took of Sophia?"

"That’s different—"

"How is it different?" My voice raised. "When you posted a nine-grid carousel of her, praising her 'unique vibe' and calling her 'the most photogenic' in the comments, did you ever think about how I felt?"

Silence on the other end.

"Now that someone actually put effort into photographing me and made me look beautiful, you can’t handle it? Tyler, that’s a double standard."

"Skylar, I—"

In the background, there was a knock on the door, followed by Sophia’s sickly sweet voice: "Tyler, can you help me zip up my dress? I can’t reach it."

My heart instantly went cold.

"Go ahead," I chuckled lightly. "Don’t keep your 'sister' waiting too long."

I hung up immediately.
