Alpha's STOLEN Mate Chapter 100
Kaius
Frost and I had been tailing Rowan from a safe distance, using every stealth technique I'd learned over decades of warfare. She'd been moving with purpose—clearly knowing exactly where Morgath's lair was hidden.
When she finally stopped before what looked like empty forest, I moved to follow her through—
Frost's hand clamped on my shoulder. "We're infiltrating, not invading," he whispered urgently. "If we want to extract Elowen safely, we need to stay silent and invisible." His eyes narrowed, scanning the space. "You don't feel that barrier? There's a massive anti-werewolf ward surrounding the entire perimeter."
I froze, extending my senses. *Fuck.* He was right. A shimmering dome of magic, nearly invisible but absolutely impenetrable to our kind, encased what must be Morgath's stronghold.
"How the hell do we—"
Frost was already moving forward, pulling a small glass vial from his pocket. Inside, a few drops of luminescent blue liquid swirled like living sapphires.
"What is that?"
"Gift from Lysandra." Frost uncorked the vial carefully, tilting it to let a single drop fall onto the barrier.
The effect was instantaneous. Where the blue liquid touched, the magical ward split open like torn fabric, creating a doorway just wide enough for us to slip through.
*Lysandra gave him something that powerful? Their relationship is more than just customer and merchant.*
But I didn't have time to examine that mystery. We had to move.
Inside, the lair was a nightmare of uniform whiteness. Every corridor looked identical—sterile walls, harsh lighting, doors that all appeared the same. It was designed to disorient, to trap, to make escape impossible.
But I had something Morgath hadn't counted on: the mate bond.
Even suppressed, even damaged, I could still catch traces of Elowen's scent. And right now, it reeked of terror and despair.
*Hold on. We're coming.*
We moved quickly through the maze, passing room after room of horrors. Each chamber was clearly labeled and separated by transparent glass walls—living exhibits in Morgath's twisted museum.
**OMEGA COLLECTION**
Inside, dozens of cages held wolves who'd been stripped of their humanity. They sat docilely, staring at nothing, moving only when commanded. Like trained dogs waiting for their master's order.
*Fucking monster.*
**BETA COLLECTION**
More of the same. Stronger wolves reduced to mindless pets, their eyes vacant and dead.
Frost made a strangled sound of disgust beside me. "Fuck. She's treating them like livestock."
"Keep moving," I muttered, though my own stomach churned with revulsion.
Then we reached the **ALPHA COLLECTION**.
This exhibit was different—the only one without transparent walls. Just an imposing metal door with heavy locks and a viewing slot. But the aura emanating from inside was overwhelming, suffocating in its concentrated power.
*An Alpha is in there. Maybe multiple Alphas.*
"Kaius—" Frost started.
"I know." I could feel it too—something incredibly dangerous locked behind that door. "But we can't save everyone right now. Elowen first. Then we come back with reinforcements."
Frost nodded, clearly relieved I wasn't about to do something stupid and heroic.
The scent trail led us to a room that made my blood run cold. Through the partially open door, I could see surgical equipment, restraints, and—
*Elowen.*
She was strapped to an operating table, thrashing against leather bonds that cut into her wrists and ankles. Blood seeped from where the restraints had broken skin. Two wolves stood guard, their posture rigid and unnatural—more of Morgath's pets.
I didn't rush in. Instead, I pressed against the wall beside the doorway and released a wave of Alpha authority—the kind of dominance that should have sent any wolf to their knees in submission.
The guards didn't even flinch.
*What the fuck?*
They stood there like statues, completely unaffected by my power. As if they existed in a different reality entirely.
I caught Frost's eye and gestured. He nodded, understanding immediately.
Frost created a sharp noise—metal scraping against stone—from the opposite direction. Both guards' heads snapped toward the sound with mechanical precision. They moved out to investigate with synchronized steps.
The moment they cleared the doorway, I struck.
My dagger opened the first guard's throat before he could make a sound. Blood sprayed, but the wolf didn't cry out—just collapsed with that same eerie silence.
Frost's blade found the second guard's heart with surgical precision. The body crumpled.
I didn't wait. I was inside the room instantly, my hands already working on the locks binding Elowen to the table.
Her eyes flew open. Shock, then joy, then stubborn anger flashed across her face in rapid succession.
"Kaius?" Her voice was hoarse, disbelieving.
"Keep your voice down," I whispered, finally getting the first wrist free. "I know you've been waiting. But you're safe now."
Her expression immediately soured. "Fuck! I don't need you to rescue me! Get away from me!"
*Of course. Why did I expect gratitude?*
I continued working on the restraints, ignoring her protests. "This isn't the time for your attitude, Elowen. This place is a death trap. We need to leave. Now."
I reached to help her sit up once she was free, but she shoved my hands away roughly.
"I can manage on my own! It's safer here than being kidnapped by you anyway!"
Frustration boiled in my chest, but Frost stepped in before I could respond.
"My Queen," he said softly, approaching her with careful respect. "I know you're angry. But Kaius explained everything about Morgath on the way here—her experiments, her collection, her power." His pale blue eyes were earnest, pleading. "This isn't the time to fight each other. We need to leave before she returns."
Elowen's entire demeanor shifted. She sat up quickly, grabbing Frost's hand with obvious concern.
"Frost! You came too! God, are you sure your body can handle this? After everything with Cross..." Her voice softened with genuine worry. Then she seemed to remember where they were and shuddered. "Fuck. You're right. This whole place is a nightmare. That psycho could come back any second. We have to go. Now."
*Are you fucking kidding me?*
Frost said the exact same thing I did, but *he* gets immediate cooperation and concern for his wellbeing?
Frost caught my expression and winced slightly, clearly uncomfortable with the situation.
I forced myself to nod curtly. *Deal with your jealousy later. Get her out first.*
Frost took point, leading Elowen toward the exit with practiced efficiency. I followed behind, my eyes constantly scanning for threats.
The maze of white corridors seemed endless, but Frost navigated with surprising confidence—likely following the same magical breadcrumbs we'd used to enter.
We were almost to the exit. I could see the faint shimmer of the barrier ahead, freedom just beyond it—
"Well, well, well."
Morgath's voice echoed through the corridor, freezing us all in place.
She materialized at the exit, blocking our path. Her golden mask gleamed under the harsh lights, and flanking her were half a dozen wolves—all radiating the enhanced strength and mindless obedience of her "collection."
"How convenient," she purred. "I just finished dealing with Rowan, and now the Alpha King delivers himself to my doorstep. Capturing a White Wolf comes with such excellent bonuses!"
All three of us went rigid at different parts of that statement.
*Rowan is dead?*
I'd known it was a possibility when she left to confront Morgath. But hearing it confirmed—knowing that my last connection to the Elders, my source of intelligence, my complicated ally was gone—hit harder than expected.
Morgath seemed amused by our shock. But then her attention shifted, focusing on Frost with unnerving intensity.
"Frost," she said, her voice taking on an almost contemplative quality. "You've lived a hard life, haven't you? Born into slavery, clawed your way up to Beta through sheer determination. And now..." Her head tilted. "Your time is running out, isn't it? I can smell the decay in your blood. The weakness spreading through your system."
Frost's jaw tightened, but he said nothing.
Morgath's smile widened beneath her mask. "Such a tragic, broken specimen. A pet that's already dying." She waved her hand dismissively. "You don't interest me, Beta. You may leave."
