New York media caught the scent immediately. Headlines splashed across the papers:

Speculation about the two intensified. Bianca had no intention of explaining. She personally drafted a property division agreement. Half for him, half for her. Clean and sharp.

She walked toward Dante’s office on the top floor in Manhattan but stopped when she heard voices inside.

"Dante, you’re acting like this for a schoolgirl? Bianca is losing face. Why don't you go comfort her? You won't find another woman like her in all of New York."

It was their close brother, Luca.

"I know. We’ve walked through bullets together for so many years. She’s part of my life," Dante’s voice sounded tired.

Bianca’s heart tightened slightly.

But the next words sent her plummeting into an ice cave.

"But Luca, I don't feel the same way about Bianca as I did in the beginning." He paused, pouring himself a whiskey. "She’s too calculating, too ruthless. Sometimes even I get scared."

"But Mia is different. She’s clean, like a blank sheet of paper. Seeing her makes me feel like I’m still a living human being, not just a killing machine."

Bianca’s hand holding the agreement trembled.

She suddenly remembered years ago, someone had said in front of him: "Miss Bianca is too ruthless. She might not be worthy of Mr. Moretti."

How had he replied back then?

He had wrapped his arm around her waist, laughing wildly in front of all the family elders. "I’m bad too. If she were some sweet, innocent fool, I wouldn't even look at her. I love her ruthlessness."

"It fits. We’re bad together."

The voice echoed in her ears, but the people had changed.

In the office, Luca was still persuading him. "If you really want to play, just keep her on the side like the others before. You’ll get bored in a month."

Bianca dug her nails into her palm.

Dante shook his head. "It's different."

"When she cried last night, I wanted to chop Rocco and his men into pieces and feed them to the dogs."

"I’ve never felt that with Bianca. She’s too strong. She doesn't need me. But Mia... Mia only has me."

Luca sighed. "Your interests with Bianca are too deeply tied. Too many families are watching. Unbinding would be disastrous."

"She’s just having a tantrum," Dante said with certainty. "She can't leave me."

"Hah."

Bianca let out a very soft laugh. She looked up to force back the moisture in her eyes, then pushed the door open.

Dante stood up and walked over to take her hand. "Bianca, are you still angry? If you are, I’ll take you to seize the East Side docks. Didn't you always want that territory?"

Her gaze bypassed him and landed on the New York Post spread out on the desk.

The headline photo was him carefully holding Mia as he got into the car that night.

In the photo, the platinum ring on Dante’s left ring finger was blindingly bright.

She had a matching one on her hand.

Half a month ago, when he put it on her, he said, "Bianca, the position of Mrs. Moretti will only ever belong to you."

How ridiculous.

"Dante," she spoke. "I originally wanted to split the assets with you fifty-fifty."

She pulled her hand back, tore the agreement into shreds, and tossed them into the air. "But since you say I’m evil, I might as well live up to the name."

"I want everything under your name."
