Eight Years in the Beast World Chapter 4
I was locked in the cell all night.
Finally, the next day I was released.
I was starving and wanted to find food in the tribe.
As soon as I picked up some food, Lena led others over. She contemptuously knocked the food from my hands.
"All this was obtained through our wolves' hard hunting. You've done nothing in the tribe. You have no right to eat this food."
I looked at Lena expressionlessly.
Had I not contributed enough to the tribe? I'd discovered cultivable sweet potatoes, potatoes, and mushrooms, and even taught the tribe's wolves how to plant them.
Making these resources renewable.
Though I couldn't hunt like other wolves, I'd made more than enough contributions.
If the wolf tribe maintained my plans properly, they could survive for a hundred years in this primitive world.
Even if Lena didn't know this, Ryan, as chief, should.
I looked at Ryan, my tone questioning:
"So now I don't even have the right to eat?"
Ryan's expression didn't change as he frowned:
"Lena's right. We all hunt for ourselves. You're the only exception. Though you helped us discover sweet potatoes and potatoes, that was years ago."
Wesley, my son, looked at me without mercy:
"Our wolf tribe doesn't feed useless people. If you want to eat, go hunt yourself."
I withdrew my gaze. Fine, they wouldn't let me eat meat—I'd eat some sweet potatoes and potatoes.
But I was still blocked.
Lena crossed her arms arrogantly. As a female wolf, she stood half a head taller than me.
She challenged me:
"You didn't participate in planting the sweet potatoes and potatoes either. They're not your assets. You're not allowed to eat them."
I looked at the surrounding wolves. They exchanged glances, but not one spoke up for me.
My face showed a cold smile:
"What do you want?"
Ryan frowned, pulling Lena into his embrace:
"I want to be with Lena, so you can't stay in the tribe. Considering your contributions, if you're smart, you'll leave on your own. Otherwise, don't blame me for using force."
My son Wesley also looked at me with disgust:
"Just leave already. A woman like you staying in our wolf tribe is just a burden. If you don't leave, I'll have the tribe's males rape you!"
I shook my head in disbelief. I never imagined my own son could say such words.
He not only tried to poison me but also wanted me raped.
Without looking back or changing expression, taking nothing with me, I turned and left the wolf tribe.
