Psychocriminalist Chapter 13
Derek listened carefully to my story, my past.
"So Number 1 was your father. What about Number 2?"
I showed a relieved expression and continued: "The day before I went abroad, I was talking to Chloe by her bed. She woke up."
"So because you needed to replace her, you killed her," Derek accused.
I smiled and said mockingly, "Interrupting people is very rude."
"She begged me to kill her," I said quietly and calmly.
"Why?"
"She lost both legs in that accident." Mist formed in my eyes.
"She had such talent for dancing. She was so beautiful when she danced, so beautiful." I stared vacantly at Derek, a tear rolling down my cheek.
"We talked for a long time. Then on that clear night, she left me forever."
"So she's Number 2," Derek concluded.
"So, Detective Lane, does this story sound familiar?"
I gazed at him with cold eyes.
His expression gradually became panicked: "I... I... are you saying the person who hit Chloe was me?" he asked in astonishment.
"So you do remember. Everything now stems from you."
I paused. "So it must end with you as well."
Derek fell silent.
Liam reminded him from the side: "You have 8 minutes."
"Before I die, will you solve the mystery for me?" Derek looked at me hazily, his tone incredibly gentle.
"Okay, go ahead."
"Why kill the other seven? Did they also have so-called 'sins'?"
I said appreciatively, "Now that's our law enforcement prodigy, getting to the point."
I sat down: "The first body you found, Jake Zhao. Sound familiar?"
"Your brother?"
I thought for a moment and refuted: "He doesn't deserve to be called my brother."
"Why involve children in adults' grudges?"
I lifted my skirt, revealing my right thigh: "You asked before how I got this. He burned me."
Derek's expression shifted from anger to calm.
I continued: "He grew up to be just like his father—not even human. Scum of scum."
