Psychocriminalist Chapter 7

The police had identified my patient as the serial killer.

However, he had disappeared—vanished inside my apartment building.

The police reviewed surveillance footage but found no video of him leaving the building. He had simply evaporated.

His name was Liam Pierce, and he was my patient.

This man was consistently calm and composed.

At first glance, he wasn't like my usual patients with volatile emotions. Instead, he spoke very logically.

Through psychological treatment, I learned some interesting things about his past.

When he was 12 years old, his father was abusive. His mother, in one of these beatings, fought back and beheaded his father right in front of him.

The police took his mother away. After investigation, she was charged with intentional homicide.

His mother was sentenced to death.

Having lost both parents, he was sent to an orphanage and remained there until graduating high school.

But this incident remained his psychological shadow.

And he wasn't just my patient—he was my accomplice.

I entered the house and looked around, my gaze stopping at a spot in the walk-in closet.

"Mm, Liam should have left by now," I thought.

The reason the police couldn't find surveillance of Liam leaving the building was because he truly never left.

When the police searched my apartment, he was in the unit across the hall.

When they searched that unit, he moved through the connecting passage in the closet to my apartment.

And since my place wasn't the crime scene, the police only checked for surface evidence.

How could those idiots possibly think the two units were connected?

"What's wrong, Chloe?"

Derek walked to my side: "What are you looking at so intently?"

I looked at him with an exhausted expression. "Just a bit tired, I guess."

"Then get some good sleep. I have to go back to the station. Remember, don't open the door for anyone—not even delivery people."

He looked at me firmly as he spoke. I could tell he genuinely cared about me.

"Yes, I know," I responded playfully.

Derek left quickly.

Just as I was about to sleep, a low male voice came from nearby.
