I laughed self-mockingly, my expression returning to cold aloofness that kept people at a distance.

"Everything that needed to be said has been said. Since the boss doesn't need my help, please leave."

Ethan frowned, his gaze toward me extremely dissatisfied.

"I traveled thousands of miles chasing my wife, and this is what you tell me?"

What he was about to say next was something I couldn't bear no matter what.

I helplessly covered Ethan's mouth and spoke first.

"Don't say it. I know what you want to ask."

"What happened back then was my fault, but I believe I've given enough emotional value."

"If there's anything you're still unsatisfied with, you can bring it up. I'll try to accommodate."

Ethan's expression instantly darkened like the bottom of a pot.

"You think this is what I wanted to say."

"Isn't it?"

I pretended to shrug casually, making an unfunny joke with him.

"Please, you're a mafia boss. When I approached you, it was only for money."

"You wouldn't say you were really seduced by me and fell in love with me, would you?"

Someone with such strong self-esteem as Ethan naturally couldn't stand such words.

After I finished speaking, I fell silent, waiting for his outburst.

But unexpectedly, Ethan just looked at me deeply, then continued my words.

"What if I said yes?"

"Victoria, I really was seduced by you and fell in love with you."

My heartbeat seemed to skip a beat, instantly aching terribly.

For a moment I didn't know how to respond, could only close my mouth and fall into silence.

And Ethan was once again deeply hurt by my speechlessness.

Though such a domineering person, when looking at me with red-rimmed eyes, he seemed heartbroken.
