The Crimson Game Chapter 14
I saw Tank's expression and knew what he was thinking.
He wanted to protect the girl and me, letting us escape.
Rustling sounds behind us interrupted our conversation.
We all sensed a group of people sneaking toward us.
I grabbed both their sleeves and said quietly: "Don't turn around."
I pulled the girl's collar close and whispered something in her ear.
The girl nodded rapidly like a pecking chicken.
Tank looked curious, asking quietly: "What are you two plotting? What... what do we do now?"
I spat on the ground and shouted: "We fight!"
I shoved the girl behind us while Tank and I blocked her from view.
The creep's accomplices had brought a whole group, blocking our exit.
Seeing them stare hungrily at our bags on the ground, it was obvious they were players missing items. About six or seven of them.
The bald leader shouted to the players behind him: "The items you need are on them. Whether you can steal them depends on your own skills."
I laughed coldly, lifting my chin. "Forget how your buddy just died? Still wanna start something?"
The group kept advancing, apparently wanting a quick fight.
Tank raised a long pole like the Grim Reaper himself, blocking their path.
"You little punks better shut it. If you want to end up like that creep, come try me."
I stood beside him, pulling out two steel pipes.
Win or lose, I was going to be a badass today.
Several people hesitated, their steps faltering slightly.
