The Day Ethan Got Married Chapter 7

Perhaps because of their honeymoon period, they'd been staying home these past few days.

Though Claire's health was poor, she had a strong personality.

Plus, they came from similar privileged backgrounds and were used to having their way.

Conflicts that usually went unnoticed gradually surfaced.

First issue: cooking. Neither could.

Cooking one meal on a whim was fine, but neither could handle the daily grind of meal prep.

This was their love nest—they didn't want a third person intruding.

They couldn't hire help, so they ordered takeout instead.

But that created another problem. Claire loved spicy food, but Ethan had stomach issues.

"When did you develop stomach problems?"

"My stomach problems came from drinking myself sick every day after you left without a word six years ago."

Anger crept into Ethan's voice.

Though Claire knew she was somewhat at fault, she wouldn't back down.

"You've been fine these past few years. Never saw you avoiding anything."

These past few years, I'd made him medicinal soups every day to heal his stomach.

Terrified he'd develop chronic problems.

I'd thought they truly loved each other.

But after all this time together, they still didn't seem to understand each other's preferences and tastes.

Ethan's stomach couldn't handle the spicy food. After a few bites, he felt sick.

Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Claire noticed something was wrong.

"Let's go to the hospital. You can't let this slide."

Ethan shook his head and called a server to get medicine from his car.

The medicine in his car—I'd put it there in case of an emergency.

"I'm fine. You eat. I'll be better after I take my meds."

He told Claire.

Then he pulled out his phone and texted me.

"Jules, the food here is terrible. I miss you."
