The Day of Choosing a Wife Chapter 2
"What are you looking at? Mom and Dad have already arranged everything with the Yates and Cole families. It's too late for regrets now!"
He looked like a dog guarding its food, his selfish and domineering nature on full display.
This was clearly the real him.
Before I could speak, Mom and Dad came over saying we should personally visit the Yates and Cole families to exchange birth charts.
"This shows we take these engagements seriously, and you two can also cultivate your relationship."
They had already arranged drivers for us.
As we were about to leave, Ryan gave me a meaningful smile.
About an hour later, I arrived at the Yates residence.
As soon as I got out of the car, I saw Gina in a long dress running out without even wearing shoes.
The moment she saw me, her eyes lit up.
She seemed different from my impression of her, but undeniably, she was truly beautiful. Even her bare feet were fair and delicate.
I coughed lightly and looked away, tugging at my slightly wrinkled clothes as I greeted her.
"Hello, Miss Yates. I'm here to..."
"I know. Come in!"
She led me into the living room.
I sat on the sofa, glanced around, and was about to speak when Gina left.
As expected—after all, Gina was very aloof, and we had barely met before. Plus, she was a workaholic.
In my previous life, one reason Ryan cheated, besides Gina's frigidity, was also because she was too busy with work to spend time with him.
I was reminiscing about my previous life when Gina returned carrying fruit and pastries, pulling me back to the present.
"I didn't know what you liked, so I just grabbed some things."
I stared at the large plate full of various fruits, momentarily stunned.
"Thank you."
"Between you and me, there's no need to be so formal!"
"I heard you majored in law. I wonder if our company would have the honor of inviting you to be our legal advisor."
I was taken aback, not expecting her to invite me to work at her company.
I didn't give a definite answer, but we spent the entire afternoon discussing the company and this matter.
She seemed serious about it.
"But... I don't have much experience."
She said nonchalantly, "Experience can be accumulated."
It was a good opportunity.
I agreed.
When I was leaving, she offered to drive me.
Just like that, she drove me back to the Bennett residence. As I got out of the car, I remembered my actual purpose for coming.
Through the car window, I told her, "I haven't told you my birth chart yet."
She paused, then smiled.
I had to admit, her smile was beautiful. No wonder Ryan cheated with women who looked like her.
"Our birth charts are very compatible. Get some rest early. Good night!"
With that, the car drove away.
I withdrew my gaze, thinking to myself that she was quite gentle.
"Clayton Bennett!"
Bang—I was suddenly pushed to the ground by Ryan.
His face was dark as he interrogated me.
"What did you do to Gina Yates?"
I found it amusing. I stood up and dusted myself off, speaking deliberately, "She's my future wife. What does it matter to you what I do?"
Hearing this, his expression grew even uglier.
But then he sneered coldly.
"Indeed, your future wife. But I hope you'll still say that when you become neither man nor woman!"
He turned and stormed off angrily.
I felt even more amused.
Did he think all men were like him, only thinking with their lower half?
Even if Gina and I had a marriage in name only, it would still be better than being with the man-eating Susan Cole!
