I finally figured it out.

Connor was the real client behind that super-contract I landed.

A wave of exhaustion surged from the bottom of my heart.

The immense sense of accomplishment I felt when closing that deal now felt like a loud slap across my face.

Integrating quickly into work and life in a foreign country really isn't easy.

But people fall in love with themselves through overcoming difficulties one by one.

Aside from this deal, the sum of the other contracts I closed this month was also number one in the department.
