Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King Chapter 39
"What do you mean by she's not the one?!" I snapped at the witch as I took a threatening step towards her and she cowered, looking down.
"I'm sorry if you feel this way, Your Majesty, but I'm telling the truth, that woman isn't your cure. I'm still trying to figure out why you're drawn to her, but believe me, she's not the one."
I turned away from her running my fingers through my hair in frustration. I was beyond pissed, not when I think this is it, this woman tells me she's not.
"But why...why does my beast recognize her? Why do I feel this peace when she's near me? Can you explain that?"
She was silent for a while and the tension in the room seemed to swallow everyone whole.
"I don't know, Your Majesty, but as I said, I'm still trying to figure it out. And..."
My eyes narrowed at her, my patience hanging on a thin line.
"And what?" I asked, my jaw ticking.
She sighed before looking at Lucien who had been standing in the corner watching the exchange and then she turned back to me but still didn't speak.
"Don't test me Soraya." I growled,
"You...you have to stay away from her, Your Majesty, she'll destroy you." She said the last past so low I almost missed it.
I couldn't control myself, I hit the wall nearest to me creating a hole on it as I clenched my hands so tight I could smell blood.
"What now?! I'm supposed to sit and wait for when the moon goddess feels merciful enough to give me a second chance mate? And now that there's someone who my wolf feels even the slightest attraction towards, you're telling me to stay away from her?! Goddess, you drive me insane."
"Why do you think he should stay away from her?" Lucien asked,
"The prophecy," She said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"What was that?" I asked but she shook her head, taking a step back.
"Soraya what the hell are you talking about?"
"I can't tell you, but for your own good, stay away from her."
"Do you realize who you're talking to Soraya? This is the king and he's asking you something concerning his life and you're saying you can't tell him?" Lucien said in anger.
Soraya fell on her knees with her head lowered.
"Forgive me my king but whatever I do is for your own good. Please. But that woman isn't the one who would break your curse, that woman isn't your second chance mate, you'll know it when you find her."
"Bullshit," I cursed, turning towards the window and the moon was there looking at me like it was mocking me once again.
Did the moon goddess enjoy playing with my life? Because this little twist of fate was pissing me off.
When will she decide that it's enough with the torture. Just when I feel like I've found someone who might help me—when I think that I'm close to getting the help I need, I hear this.
"Then where the hell is she? This glorious second chance mate, you think the moon goddess would mercifully throw at me?" She didn't respond.
"That's it? You think I'll just stay away from the one woman who makes me think right for even a second? Not happening, not because you said so, not because the moon goddess said so."
"Your Majesty," She gasped in disbelief. "You can't put yourself in danger, you're the head of this kingdom,"
"And you're supposed to be the all powerful witch but yet you've done nothing for me, the medicine you give to me don't work, and the only fucking person who have been able to calm me down is Emilia, forgive me if I'll not be able to stay away from her."
"It's only an illusion, it will make you comfortable and when you get too comfortable with it, it will destroy you."
"Then tell me, Soraya, tell me why you think she'll destroy me, tell me why I should stay away from her, give me a good reason."
"Your Majesty..." Her mouth opened and closed but she said nothing.
"I want to believe you don't have any reason to give me, that would be all. Don't ask for me until you have something worth listening to."
With that I turned and walked towards the door, my heart slamming against my chest. My insides were boiling like a volcano about to explode.
I walked out of her chamber, the cold night air slapping at my face as Lucien fell in step beside me.
"What if she's telling the truth?" He asked, and I narrowed my eyes on him.
"I know we've been looking for a cure for years but we're not going to jump on the first thing that seems like it."
I didn't want to think about it because it'd start making sense. The way my wolf reacts towards Emilia has always felt too good to be true.
"I'm worried about you, Your Majesty, but it's my responsibility to protect you,"
"I'm fine Lucien, what I need you to do is make sure Soraya tells you what prophecy she's talking about. I'm not going to let that slide." I said and he nodded.
"If Emilia is dangerous like she claims, I'll be the judge of that. But right now, she's the only person who can calm my beast and I don't plan to stay away from her or let her go."
Lucien looked like he was about to argue but stopped himself.
"As you wish, Your Majesty. Have a good night's rest." He bowed in respect before walking away.
I stood there for a while before turning and walking back to the room where I left Emilia.
If it is true that Emilia is my destruction.
Then I'd gladly get destroyed.
