Chosen By The Cursed Alpha King Chapter 45
A knock on the door jolted me awake from my sleep as I quickly sat up, eyes going to the door.
"Come in." I said, my voice rough with sleep as the door slowly pushed in and a woman walked in holding neatly folded clothes in her hands.
"The king asked me to give you these, he wants you in his office as soon as you're done dressing," she said, dropping the clothes on the bed.
"Thanks," I whispered as I stood up,
"I'll be waiting for you outside the door," she said, giving me a bow and my eyes couldn't help but widen in shock.
Why was she bowing to me?
"Uhm, I'll quickly shower and change, I'll be out shortly," I said and the woman bowed again before quietly walking out of the room leaving me standing there in shock.
I blinked coming back to my senses as I made my way to the bathroom because whatever was going on, I was about to find out.
I had a quick shower not even caring how big the damn bathroom was.
I dried myself and tied a towel around my head as I walked out of the bathroom.
I got dressed in the clothes the woman brought for me; a black silk skirt and a cream top with simple black flats that were laying on the floor for me.
As soon as I finished dressing, I walked to the door and knocked and the door opened. I stepped and the woman gave me a look like she was accessing if I was fit to be in the king's presence.
"Please follow me," she said calmly as she led the way and I followed quietly behind her.
Every corner we passed, maids and guards were literally making way for me like I was royalty, bowing to me in respect. I didn't know what the hell was going on and I couldn't wait to find out because I was fucking dying with curiosity.
"Can you tell me what's going on?" I asked the woman in confusion,
"About what ma'am?" She asked,
"About all this," I said waving my hands around,
"Whatever confusion you have, the king will clear it,"
We finally reached a door and the woman knocked twice.
"Enter." Came his deep voice, and the woman opened the door gesturing for me to enter.
I hesitated only for a second before walking inside and the door closed behind me like a sentence, final and irrevocably.
He was seated behind his desk, eyes fixed on the papers in front of him. Finally he lifted his eyes and those piercing blue eyes bored into mine. I couldn't help myself.
"What is going on?"
"What are you talking about?" He asked and I pointed at the door, looking for the right words.
"I...I don't know, that woman came into the room and she was bowing...for me...and then I walked out and everyone was looking at me like some royalty," I couldn't help but laugh, hell, there was nothing funny about the situation.
"You said you didn't want to be treated like a prisoner," he said and I nodded,
"Yeah, I did say so, but I need to understand what's happening and why I'm getting all the attention,"
"It's simple, I gave an order that you must be treated the same way they would treat me," he said and for a minute I just stared at him trying to wrap my head around what he just said.
Finally I pointed a finger towards myself. "Does this mean I'm the second alpha king?"
He narrowed his eyes at me in warning. "It means you're going to be respected—it means that everyone is expected to serve you the way they would serve me."
"But what exactly am I?" I couldn't help but ask.
He didn't answer me and I couldn't help but furrow my brows.
I wasn't the queen nor was I the king's second chance mate. Those were the only people allowed such treatment. Then what exactly was my label because people will definitely want to know.
"The king's woman," he said and I couldn't help but raise my brow.
"Is that a more civilized way of saying the king's whore?"
"A whore cannot bear my child." He spat, jaw clenched in restrained anger.
"The king's woman it is then," I said with a nod.
"You're to stay out of trouble Emilia, I'll assign a guard to watch you always,"
"What then is the difference with a prisoner?"
"You can't argue with me on that, it is for your own protection,"
"Or you're worried I'll try to run away again,"
"You might be anything, but not stupid, you saw what happened the last time you tried to run away. Even if you must run you won't be stupid enough to go out there unprepared,"
Did I hear him correctly? Why the hell did he sound like he knew I was planning something.
"I'm not planning to run away, I don't want to be food for the rogues." The first part was a lie and yes I didn't want to be torn to pieces.
The king studied me for a while and I stood there feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, I had to quickly sit down.
"I accepted your offer, didn't I? I'm trusting you to not kill me so the least you can do is trust me not to run away,"
"I realized we didn't shake to the agreement," he finally said, stretching his hand forward.
I almost said we've done more than just shake hands but I stopped myself as I took his hand.
"I look forward to giving you a child,"
His thumb brushed slow circles against my palm as he held on, his gaze darkening with something that sent a shiver down my spine.
"Then maybe," his voice dropped, low and rough, "we shouldn't waste any time getting to work."
I tried to pull my hand away but his hand only tightened.
"I plan on making sure you don't just look forward to it, sweetheart—you'll feel it. Over and over. Until there's no doubt whose child you'll be carrying."
