The Forgotten Necklace of the Moon Goddess Chapter 2

Five years ago, Sienna set me up beautifully.

She stole the Moon Goddess necklace our mother left behind from Killian’s safe and sold it on the black market. Then, she accused me of doing it.

It was the heirloom meant for the future Luna. Killian went berserk.

He forced me to kneel in a blizzard for three days and three nights, using his Alpha command to demand where I had sold it.

But how could I know?

I told him it was Sienna’s ploy to drive a wedge between us, that she was jealous I was his blood sister.

Killian refused to believe it.

Stealing a sacred relic, betraying the family, and refusing to repent.

Three strikes. All fatal.

With Sienna adding fuel to the fire, he stripped me of my family title, severed my mental link to the pack, and threw me out of the territory like garbage.

For the first six months, I actually managed okay.

I found a sales job in the human world. I didn't have wolf strength, but I could feed myself.

But then, everything changed.

Killian made the only phone call he would make to me in five years.

His first words were:

"Are you ready to crawl back and apologize? Just tell me where you sold the necklace, and I'll allow you to rejoin the pack."

Back then, I still had my wolf’s pride. I screamed at him.

"I told you it wasn't me! Are you deaf? Ask your precious sister Sienna! She sold it!"

Killian hung up immediately.

That same day, I was fired.

He put the word out across the entire state: anyone who hired Nora Blackwood was an enemy of the Blackwood Pack.

For the next few years, I couldn't hold down a decent job.

I ended up working strictly in the Neutral Zone nightlife, the only place not entirely under his control.

It felt like he was doing it on purpose. He publicly announced Sienna as the sole heiress of the Blackwood family.

He took her to Council meetings, charity galas, and high-end auctions.

He spent millions without blinking.

I’d see them in the finance section of the Werewolf Daily constantly.

Meanwhile, I rotted in the shadows.

Because the link was severed, my body lost its ability to self-heal. Combined with malnutrition and cheap alcohol to numb the pain, I developed stomach cancer.

For a normal wolf, this would be nothing. But I was a Rogue cut off from the source. My healing factor was dead.

I spent every penny I had on doctors.

I borrowed from loan sharks. It still wasn't enough.

Wolf-specific medicine was exorbitant, and chemotherapy was a luxury I couldn't afford.

I tried calling Killian once to borrow money. I got three words out before he cut me off.

"Money, money, money! Is that all you care about?"

"Don't expect a dime from me until you come back and apologize. Go die in a ditch for all I care!"

That call was what finally killed my will to live.

I was tired. Truly tired.

If he wanted me dead, then fine. I would die.

At least, once I returned to the Moon Goddess's embrace, the pain would stop.

A month ago, I booked a cremation service and a cheap urn at a human funeral home. Wolves usually bury their dead, but without a territory, I had no right to the ancestral graves.

I scraped together everything I had, but I was still short five hundred dollars for the final payment.

The owner called every day to dun me.

I thought I would get the money tonight.

But Killian gave that spineless manager ten grand and wouldn't spare me five hundred.

He left the bar with his entourage in a grand exit.

I stayed in the bathroom, vomiting my guts out. Blood clots mixed with liquor swirled in the bowl.

I had only one thought.

I drank three bottles for nothing.

The shift leader smoked a cigarette next to me.

"How did you piss off Alpha Killian that bad? His face looked like a thunderstorm when he left. What's your relationship?"

My stomach cramped violently. My head swam.

I could barely keep my eyes open, gripping the toilet to keep from falling in.

"I don't know him. Just an enemy, I guess."
