The Forgotten Necklace of the Moon Goddess Chapter 8

Before I died, I left myself a backup plan.

Whether Killian would believe it or not, I typed a note in my phone's memo app.

First, this was suicide. Officers, please don't waste resources investigating.

I have terminal stomach cancer. Because my pack link was severed, my body couldn't heal. The diagnosis reports are in the photos app. I die willingly, with no regrets.

Second, I want to say one thing to my brother, Killian Blackwood.

I didn't sell Mom's necklace five years ago. Sienna framed me.

The pawnshop owner in the Neutral Zone knows Sienna. Check the records. Paper doesn't cover fire; if you look, you'll find the truth.

Finally, I want a nice house for my ashes. Since I'm a Rogue, I can't be buried in the family plot, so I chose cremation. The balance is only $500. Brother, please have some mercy and pay it off for me.

Actually, you don't really lose anything. I drank three bottles of expensive liquor that night. With the bar's markup, you still owe me five hundred.

I knew my body would be found quickly.

That's why I hid the phone in the dry rocks near where I went in.

The police were efficient.

In the dead of night, in the police station lobby, Killian stared at the phone screen, unable to comprehend what he was reading.

He read those few short paragraphs over and over again.

Finally, his eyes red, he choked out a raspy question.

"You made a mistake, right? This isn't my sister's phone."

"Is this some kind of misunderstanding? My sister is a werewolf. How could she die?"

The officer sighed sympathetically.

"Mr. Blackwood, please stay calm. You need to think about arrangements."

"Your sister was very thoughtful. Even in her suicide note, she was considerate of us. You don't look like you're short on cash. Just buy her the urn she wanted."

Suddenly, a single tear rolled down Killian's cheek.

He gripped the phone so hard the screen threatened to crack.

"How did this happen? Nora is really dead? She killed herself?"

"Mr. Blackwood, my condolences..."

"Keep your condolences! My sister can't be dead!"

He suddenly snapped, letting out a howl of grief, and ran toward the door.

But he didn't make it five steps before his legs gave out, and he collapsed unconscious.

When Killian opened his eyes, two days had passed.

His assistant had investigated everything. Watching Killian’s expression, he spoke carefully.

"Alpha... it seems you truly misunderstood Miss Nora back then. The necklace... Sienna sold it."

"She's been transferring money to that pawnshop owner for years. It's all in the bank records."

"We have Sienna locked in the manor's basement. What is your command? Should we hand her to the Enforcers?"

Killian stared blankly at the ceiling. After a long silence, he spoke.

"Bring her here."

Thirty minutes later, Sienna was dragged into the hospital room.

She was pale, sweating profusely. Her voice trembled.

"Brother, listen to me. I didn't think it would kill her! I just wanted you to hate her! I wanted to be the only heir!"

"Please don't be angry. I was wrong. I won't do it again!"

Killian got out of bed, face devoid of emotion. He walked over to her and looked down.

Sienna’s chest heaved.

"Killian, I know I was wrong. Forgive me. I just wanted to drive her away. I didn't want her to die!"

Smack!

Killian’s hand moved in a blur. A slap fueled by Alpha rage sent Sienna flying into the wall.

"Brother..."

Smack!

"I'm sorry..."

Smack!

No matter what she said, the only response was a slap, each heavier than the last.

Soon, her face was bloody and swollen beyond recognition.

Killian’s voice was terrifyingly low.

"Nora died because of you. You didn't push her into the river, but you killed her."

"Human laws might not touch you, but by Pack Law, I have a thousand ways to make you suffer. You know my methods, Sienna."

Seeing the look in his eyes, Sienna realized it was over. Despair turned into viciousness.

She stopped begging and laughed coldly.

"Killian, do you think you're any better?"

"Who kicked her out like a dog? Who used his power to ensure she couldn't find a job?"

"On my birthday, didn't you humiliate her? You called her trash. You forced her to drink that poison that Rogues wouldn't even touch. Wasn't that you?"

"And afterward? You didn't even give her the five hundred dollars. You got her fired again."

"So tell me, brother. Who is the real monster here?"

Her words dropped the temperature in the room to freezing.

Veins bulged on Killian's neck. He beat her until she couldn't speak.

"I was blinded by you! Sienna, you are venomous!"

"I'm sending you to the Northern Wastelands. You will serve the most brutal feral packs in the world. You will rot in that frozen hell for the rest of your miserable life!"

"Hahahaha—"

Sienna laughed maniacally through her broken teeth.

"Kill me if you want! Nora isn't coming back!"

"For the rest of your life, you will suffer more than I ever will!"

The only answer she got was another brutal blow.
