When My Fiancé Carved Out My Crystal Core Chapter 5
I dragged my weak body back to the base.
As soon as I entered, Mother threw herself in front of me, voice tragic.
"Olivia, Marcus was bitten by a zombie! Please save him!"
Looking at the concerned woman before me, I turned to my father, who stared at me with the same stern expression.
"What are you standing there for? If you delay your brother's treatment, you'll see how I punish you!"
Looking at these people who shared my blood, I felt deeply exhausted.
"Is this how you ask for help? I can't save him. Find someone else."
Father's face turned iron blue. He wanted to scold me but Mother stopped him.
Mother grabbed my hand, looking at Marcus lying on the bed, tears streaming endlessly.
"Olivia, this is your own brother! If you won't save him, he'll die!"
I pulled my hand away, looking at her indifferently, voice cold. "I said I can't save him."
"You heartless witch! How did I give birth to such a vicious daughter! You won't even save your own brother! If Marcus dies because of you, I'll beat you to death!"
I glanced sideways, lips curling in a cold smile.
"This useless trash can't even protect himself despite being guarded by the strong. Living is just wasting resources anyway."
Father's face flushed with anger. He wanted to continue scolding me when Marcus began moaning in pain.
Mother couldn't bear to see her son suffer and grabbed my hand again.
"Olivia, please, I'm begging you! Save your brother! Marcus is still so young. If he dies, I won't want to live either!"
Her wailing gave me a headache. My barely recovered energy was still unstable, and suddenly dizziness swept over me again.
I couldn't stand steady and started falling forward. My friend Emma, who'd just come out with medical supplies, quickly caught me.
"Olivia, what's wrong?"
I shook my head weakly. The energy fluctuations made me too uncomfortable to speak.
Emma placed her hand on my wrist. After a moment, she looked up at me in shock.
"Why has your energy become so weak?"
She immediately channeled her own energy into me, which helped me recover somewhat.
Leaning on her shoulder, I gasped for breath. Mother approached again.
"Olivia, your brother is still lying in bed. Go save him."
Emma couldn't take it anymore. She pushed Mother aside, attitude harsh.
"Mrs. Wells, Olivia is this weak and you still want her to heal your precious son? What do you take our Olivia for?"
Emma glared at her disapprovingly, then glanced at Marcus on the bed. "Don't worry, he's on medication and holding on. He won't die just yet. Olivia, let's go."
Emma helped me toward the back room, but Father suddenly grabbed my arm and yanked me back.
"What are you pretending? You're a healer—what could be wrong with you? I'm ordering you to save your brother, stop making excuses. Let's see how I punish you today!"
He raised his hand, glaring at me viciously, as if I were his enemy rather than his daughter.
I closed my eyes.
Fine. Once this slap lands, I'll have cut all ties and owe them nothing.
But the expected pain never came. A familiar voice reached my ears instead.
"Olivia is the most honored person in my settlement. You think you can just hit her?"
I looked up sharply and met a pair of cold eyes.
"Commander Reynolds, I'm just disciplining my own daughter. Do you need to interfere? Your authority as Commander seems a bit excessive!"
Commander Reynolds raised an eyebrow, his half-smiling eyes glancing at him.
"Olivia isn't just your daughter—she's the only healer in my settlement, my honored guest. If you dare hit her, you're making an enemy of me."
Hearing this, Father didn't dare say more. After all, the three of them still lived in the settlement. Angering the Commander would be counterproductive.
He forced a smile, voice softening. "I wasn't really going to hit her. It's just that this disobedient daughter won't even save her own brother. As a father, I just wanted to discipline her a bit."
I looked at him coldly, about to retort, when Commander Reynolds spoke again. "You've depended on Olivia to survive until now. Now that your daughter is weak, you're still forcing her to treat your useless son. What a 'devoted' father you are!"
Father's expression darkened. Not wanting to entangle with them further, I spoke slowly.
"I've said it before—I can't save him. Ethan carved out my crystal and gave it to Madison. I have no healing power now..."
Before I could finish, Mother's expression changed.
"What? Your crystal was removed? So that means Madison is the only one with healing abilities now?"
Hearing her speak, even detecting a hint of happiness in her tone, I suppressed the urge to mention I still had another crystal.
Seeing me nod, she lost all her earlier humble, pleading demeanor.
"You lying bitch! I begged you so much just now and you refused—turns out you're just a useless waste now."
Emma couldn't stand it anymore and stepped in front of me, angry. "Mrs. Wells, how can you talk like that? Olivia is your own daughter! Her crystal was stolen, and instead of wanting revenge for her, you're siding with that bitch Madison!"
Mother brushed off her clothes, stood beside Father, and looked at me with contempt.
"She deserved it! That crystal was wasted in her body. Better to give it to Madison—maybe it'll finally be put to good use."
With that, she loaded Marcus onto Father's back and prepared to leave.
"Now that you've lost your crystal, you're worthless. We're cutting ties with you. Consider yourself no daughter of ours. Fend for yourself."
Knowing Madison had my crystal, they couldn't wait to abandon me.
Watching the three of them leave, despite everything, blood ties remained. I couldn't help but warn them. "I advise you not to let Madison treat him, or you'll die without even knowing how."
Mother turned back and scoffed, completely dismissing my words, even mocking me.
"You're just jealous of Madison! Now that Madison is the healer, we won't find her to save Marcus—should we pin our hopes on you, a useless waste?"
Since that was her attitude, I said no more and watched them leave.
Everyone has their own fate. I'd done enough for them.
Whether they lived or died from now on was no longer my concern.
"That scumbag couple did such a thing—I'll kill them for you and take back your crystal."
Commander Reynolds spoke in a calm tone, but his words carried an underlying killing intent.
I looked at him gratefully but still shook my head.
"No need. The crystal has already merged with Madison. It can't be removed."
Emma burst into tears, holding my face, looking at me with heartache.
"Olivia, you've suffered so much. Don't worry, I won't let that scumbag couple off. I'll definitely avenge you!"
I nodded, lips curving into a bright smile.
"This is fine. If we don't let Madison reach the clouds first, how can we make her fall harder?"
