When My Fiancé Carved Out My Crystal Core Chapter 8

After that day, I trained continuously, finally fully recovering my body. My energy was completely restored—even stronger than before without the virus's influence.

Before I could relax, the settlement erupted in chaos again.

I'd just walked out when I saw Commander Reynolds being choked by Ethan.

No one spoke up for the Commander. Instead, they shouted for Ethan to kill him.

I felt strange about this. Before I could approach, people noticed me and the commotion grew louder.

"Olivia! You and the Commander are in this together! My wound started festering after using your herbs!"

"The Commander let zombies in, and you poisoned us with herbs! You two will die terrible deaths!"

I looked at Commander Reynolds. His life hung in Ethan's grip, his energy fluctuations barely detectable.

I gradually approached. The settlement residents cursed but still cleared a path for me.

I formed a seal with my hands and struck Ethan's hand. He released his grip in pain, and I snatched the Commander away.

Checking his pulse, not only was his energy weak, but his heart meridian was failing.

I quickly channeled healing power to protect his meridians. The Commander regained a bit of strength.

"Ethan let the zombies in. When I resisted, he ambushed me from behind, severely injuring me. Olivia, run! Don't worry about me!"

I handed the Commander to Emma, stood up, and looked coldly at Ethan.

"Ethan Hunter, you attacked the Commander. Have you thought about how you want to die?"

Ethan laughed as if he'd heard a joke, his lips curling upward mockingly.

"Olivia, you're still talking big? How did I attack the Commander? Do you have proof? He's the one who let zombies into the settlement. I'm the hero who eliminated them and protected the people."

Madison leaned in his arms, looking at me provocatively.

"Olivia, you and the Commander conspired to harm the settlement residents. Have you thought about how you want to die?"

Purple energy emanated from Madison's entire body—she was beyond saving but didn't even know it.

I laughed lightly and stopped arguing with her.

I took the herbs from residents' hands. Sure enough, they contained no healing energy—only toxic energy.

I infused my energy into the herbs. Instantly, it collided with the poison, green and purple lights swirling together.

"My healing energy is green. This purple poison energy is Madison's."

Madison opened her mouth but couldn't speak, hiding in Ethan's arms.

I casually picked up a zombie corpse from the ground and activated my crystal. Red energy marks appeared on the zombie's body.

"The red mark controls zombie corpses. The one with red marks isn't the Commander—it's you!"

Ethan's expression darkened. He looked at me in disbelief.

"How did you..."

"How do I still have energy to detect your mark? Ethan Hunter, you underestimated me. I won't let either you or Madison off!"

As soon as I finished speaking, I tasted blood in my throat and suddenly coughed up blood.

Mother jumped out from the side, blocking Ethan, smugly saying, "Don't be afraid. She can't cause any trouble. I personally watched her eat the poisoned fruit I gave her. She won't live much longer."

Madison hid behind Mother, boasting triumphantly. "Olivia, if you kneel and beg me, I might mercifully save your dog life."

I wiped the blood from my lips and smiled.

"Oh? Really? Why don't we test that?"

Ethan pushed Mother and Madison aside and fought with me.

Now that my energy had greatly increased, he was no match for me and retreated steadily.

Just as he gathered all his strength for one final strike, Madison rushed out and bit his shoulder.

Ethan looked at her in disbelief, turning his head in shock.

But Madison had been completely invaded by the virus. Unlike me, she had no healing crystal to suppress it. The moment the virus entered her brain, she instantly became a zombie.

Ethan still called her name softly. Seeing Madison didn't respond and kept biting his shoulder viciously, he panicked and looked at me.

"Olivia, what did you do to Madison?"

I looked at his panicked expression and couldn't help but laugh.

"Fool! You schemed so hard for this bitch—do you know the crystal you carved out carried a virus? If you kneel and beg me, I might mercifully save her dog life."

Hearing me echo Madison's earlier words, Ethan's eyes nearly split with rage, wanting nothing more than to kill me.

My expression remained calm as I watched him with interest.

After a moment, Ethan softened his tone. "Olivia, for the sake of our past, please save her."

Seeing his frustrated expression, I felt immensely satisfied.

I activated my crystal core, letting energy run wild through Madison's body, but released no healing power.

Madison had lost all consciousness but still felt pain. She hurt terribly but couldn't move, convulsing from the agony.

Having played enough, I released my hand and casually kicked Madison aside.

Watching Ethan anxiously hold her, I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

"If you want to save her, there's one way: go to where zombies gather most, disperse half your energy, and circulate it through her body forty-nine times."

Seeing his hesitation, I mocked him.

"Ethan Hunter, it's just half your energy. Can't you bear to give it up?"

"Heh, half my energy is nothing to save Madison."

Watching him carry Madison away, I smiled coldly. This departure would likely be their last.

Looking at Mother cowering nearby, trembling with fear.

I crouched before her and sighed.

"Since you and Father love Madison so much, take Marcus and leave the settlement to find them."

I looked up at Emma, who immediately understood and escorted the three outside the settlement.

Mother wailed and cried, first begging me to let them stay, then cursing me viciously when I remained unmoved.

Until the gates closed, shutting out their voices.

The dust settled. The settlement residents looked somewhat guilty and cleared a path for the Commander.

I brought the Commander into the base and activated my crystal to heal him. Fortunately, treatment came in time—with a few days' rest, he'd recover.
