After that day, I trained continuously, finally fully recovering my body. My energy was completely restored—even stronger than before without the virus's influence.

Before I could relax, the settlement erupted in chaos again.

I'd just walked out when I saw Commander Reynolds being choked by Ethan.

No one spoke up for the Commander. Instead, they shouted for Ethan to kill him.

I felt strange about this. Before I could approach, people noticed me and the commotion grew louder.

"Olivia! You and the Commander are in this together! My wound started festering after using your herbs!"

"The Commander let zombies in, and you poisoned us with herbs! You two will die terrible deaths!"

I looked at Commander Reynolds. His life hung in Ethan's grip, his energy fluctuations barely detectable.

I gradually approached. The settlement residents cursed but still cleared a path for me.

I formed a seal with my hands and struck Ethan's hand. He released his grip in pain, and I snatched the Commander away.

Madison leaned in his arms, looking at me provocatively.

"Olivia, you and the Commander conspired to harm the settlement residents. Have you thought about how you want to die?"

Purple energy emanated from Madison's entire body—she was beyond saving but didn't even know it.

I laughed lightly and stopped arguing with her.

I took the herbs from residents' hands. Sure enough, they contained no healing energy—only toxic energy.

"My healing energy is green. This purple poison energy is Madison's."

Madison opened her mouth but couldn't speak, hiding in Ethan's arms.

Mother jumped out from the side, blocking Ethan, smugly saying, "Don't be afraid. She can't cause any trouble. I personally watched her eat the poisoned fruit I gave her. She won't live much longer."

Madison hid behind Mother, boasting triumphantly. "Olivia, if you kneel and beg me, I might mercifully save your dog life."

I wiped the blood from my lips and smiled.

"Oh? Really? Why don't we test that?"

Ethan pushed Mother and Madison aside and fought with me.

Now that my energy had greatly increased, he was no match for me and retreated steadily.

Just as he gathered all his strength for one final strike, Madison rushed out and bit his shoulder.

Ethan looked at her in disbelief, turning his head in shock.

Watching him carry Madison away, I smiled coldly. This departure would likely be their last.

Until the gates closed, shutting out their voices.

The dust settled. The settlement residents looked somewhat guilty and cleared a path for the Commander.

I brought the Commander into the base and activated my crystal to heal him. Fortunately, treatment came in time—with a few days' rest, he'd recover.
