When My Fiancé Carved Out My Crystal Core Chapter 7
Days passed, and what I predicted happened.
Everyone who used my herbs began healing, while those treated by Madison saw their wounds worsen.
Many people begged at my door for me to save their lives.
I distributed herbs to them. Emma felt indignant on my behalf.
"They treated you that way, siding with that bitch without hesitation. Why are you still saving them?"
I sipped my tea calmly. "A healer's compassion."
That wasn't a lie, but what I really wanted was public support.
The settlement returned to its usual order. No one went to Madison for treatment anymore.
I thought she'd stay quiet for a few days, but an unexpected visitor arrived at the base.
"Olivia, dear, Mother came to see you. How's your recovery these past days?"
Emma glanced at her disapprovingly. "Like a weasel paying New Year's respects to a chicken."
Mother's face paled, but she didn't refute Emma's words. She put on a humble expression.
"Olivia, we're family after all. Blood ties can't be severed. Now Marcus's wound has worsened. Could you give us a crate of herbs too?"
"A whole crate? You think it's food?" Emma couldn't help but retort, reaching out to push her out. But Mother knelt before me.
"Olivia, it was all Mother's fault before. I apologize. Just forgive me. Just save your brother. I'll do anything."
I patted Emma's shoulder, signaling her to let go, and helped Mother up from the floor.
"No need for this. They're just herbs. Emma, give her a crate."
Mother smiled and grabbed my hand, her tone softening.
"Olivia, Mother actually loves you most. You're the most accomplished in the family. We're family—let's be good from now on."
She sneaked a glance at Emma's direction. Seeing she hadn't returned yet, she pulled out fruit from her clothes.
"Good daughter, I know you've been weak lately. I specially found this for you—it strengthens the body. Try some."
Looking at the bright red fruit in her hand, I glanced at her coldly.
Mother's eyes flickered, but she insisted I try it.
I took one and, under her expectant gaze, ate it.
"Is it good?"
I nodded.
"Good, then keep them all. Eat them slowly."
Emma brought a crate of herbs and handed it to her.
After she left, Emma reached for one of the fruits. I stopped her.
"These fruits are poisoned."
Emma froze, looking at me worriedly.
"But you just... you just ate one?"
I didn't explain, just told her not to worry.
Since they wanted me dead, I had no need to hold back anymore.
