**Chapter 31: Vanessa Taylor: Part 2 (the car crash).**

On the other end of the door Vanessa was seething in full force! A vein nearly popped in her brain she was so angry! Not only were they talking about showing more support…but now they wanted to bring her into the company!!! How could they!!! Vanessa stormed off to her room, there was no way she would allow this!

As she stalked away, she passed Josie’s room. Curious, she went into her room and roamed through her things. That's when she came across a binder filled with blueprints and sketches. Vanessa’s eyes widen with shock. Josie could draw and design…and what was worse…she was amazing.

So much detail and creativity….Vanessa could hardly believe it! How could someone so young be this talented. Fury began to seep into Vanessa’s veins as the envy boiled over.

*“That fuckin bitch!! It’s not fair!!! It’s not fair!!!!”*

Five years! Five years of watching someone more beautiful than her, smarter than her, nicer than her….and now….a fucking prodigy!!! Vanessa nearly screamed as she stormed out of Josie’s room.

*“I won’t allow it!!! I won’t allow it!!! That bitch will not get what belongs to me!!!”*

Vanessa paced back and forth in her room erratically as she tried to think of a plan to get rid of Josie once and for all.

*“If I don’t get rid of that bitch now she’ll take everything!!!”*

As the weeks continued, both Josie and Vanessa graduated from Highschool. To Vanessa’s dismay, their graduation dates were on separate days; so the Taylor family was able to attend Josie’s graduation.

Josie could hardly believe her ears the night Harold asked for invitations.

*“Y-You all want to come to my graduation?”*

Hints of both shock and happiness was in Josie’s voice as she stared at her parents.

*“Of course we do….we’re your parents Josie.”*

Harold looked at Josie with annoyance, but his voice gave away a hint of guilt. Did she really think they wouldn’t come to her graduation.

*“Honestly Josie…you act as if we don’t care.”*

Laura rolled her eyes as she sipped her wine. Why did she have to act like they didn’t care about her. It wasn’t their fault they weren’t as close to her. She was the one that kept starting trouble.

*“I’m only going because I’m being forced.”*

Jamie scoffed as he stood from the table; but Josie was used to his abrasive behavior, so it no longer bothered her. Smiling, she nodded in response.

*“Well, thank you anyway Jamie.”*

After the graduation, Vanessa began to really panic. Josie was praised throughout the entire ceremony; when Vanessa graduated, she barley got recognized at all. Her parents didn’t say anything at the time, but she wasn’t a fool. She knew her father and brother wasn’t please with her mediocre academic career. Meanwhile, Josie earned a prestigious award that placed her name in the school forever. The night of the graduation party, her father bragged about her to everyone; he’d hardly mentioned Vanessa at all.

It was that moment Vanessa realized she not only had to get rid of Josie, but she had to destroy her name. Afterwards, she would use all of Josie’s hard work to build her own career and secure her place in the Taylor empire.

After the graduation, Josie spent most of her time at her grandmother’s. That worked in Vanessa’s favor; while Josie was gone, she would sneak into her room copying her blueprints and sketches. Luckily, Vanessa could draw so copying her work as her own proved to be a simpler task than she’d expected.

One day, Josie came home earlier than expected, nearly walking in on Vanessa stealing her work.

*“Vanessa….what are you doing in my room?”*

Startled, Vanessa almost fell backwards when she heard Josie’s voice.

*“O-Oh….I was just looking for some jewelry. I wanted to know if I could borrow a bracelet.”*

Josie knew she was lying; however, she decided to let it go. She knew if she made a big deal about it, the Taylors would flip it on her. All Vanessa would have to do is start crying and she would become public enemy number one.

*“My vanity is over there, which one did you want to borrow.”*

Vanessa looked nervously in the direction of Josie’s vanity. With a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, she bounced over and grabbed one at random off the vanity.

*“Oh…how about this one?”*

*“Sure.”*

*“Thanks sis!”*

Vanessa quickly left Josie’s room closing the door behind her. Once gone, Josie walked over to the area Vanessa was standing in. Nothing appeared to be missing, but her sketchbook was on the floor. Confused, Josie picked it up and placed it on the table. Later, after her incarceration, she would learn that Vanessa was stealing her designs.

Two days before the car crash, Harold and Christian called Vanessa into his study. When she arrived, she noticed both her father and brother looked displeased.

*“Is something wrong father?”*

After taking a deep sigh, Harold began to speak.

*“Take a seat Vanessa.”*

Nervous, she sat in the chair facing the desk. Christian began to speak next.

*“Vanessa…it’s already July and you haven’t mentioned anything about college. Did you even apply to any universities? Even with your grades, we should have been able to pull some strings.”*

Vanessa’s eyes widen with horror, she hadn’t even thought about college. She’d been so preoccupied with trying to ruin Josie that it slipped her mind.

*“Oh well…I’ve just been thinking about what I really want to do. I was thinking about taking a year off-”*

*“You what!!!”*

Harold immediately cut Vanessa off. He couldn’t believe his ears! Taking a year off from her academics was completely out of the question! Christian shook his head as if disappointed.

*“Vanessa…maybe we’ve spoiled you too much. Why would you think it’s okay to take a year off? Honestly…why aren’t you more serious about your future. Josie will be attending the top school in Bridgeton and one of the top schools in the world! Why can’t you be more like her?”*

The minute he said those words, Christian instantly felt guilty. It wasn’t his intentions to compare Vanessa to Josie. Tears began to fall down Vanessa’s cheeks causing him to feel even worse.

*‘Shit…I knew I shouldn’t have said that.’*

Christian felt bad for hurting his little sister’s feelings; but what he didn’t know was that her tears were more out anger than sorrow.

*‘That bitch! That fucking bitch! That fucking bitch!!!!’*

Vanessa’s thoughts were racing as Harlod tried to smooth things over.

*“Nessie…honey…your brother didn’t mean that. We’re just concerned you’re not taking your future serious-”*

*“But I am!!!”*

Vanessa seethed! They had no idea how *SERIOUS* she was taking her future! That little bitch Josie was trying to steal everything from her!!! In a panic, Vanessa blurted out her plans before she could even think everything through.

*“I want to go to a designing school for architecture and design!”*

Both Harlod and Christian’s eyes shot up in surprise. Vanessa was interested in architecture and design. Christian spoke next.

*“Ness…that’s really great to hear but….do you even know how to do blueprint layouts? I mean…I know you can draw but I’ve never seen-”*

*“I can show you!”*

The words were flying out faster than her thought process at this point. Nervously, she jumped up and ran to her room grabbing her own sketchbook filled with the designs she’d stolen from Josie.

Racing back into the office she nervously handed the book over to Christian. As he began to look at her sketches, his eyes widen. The sketches and blueprints were amazing. Each sketch was creative, detailed, and structured. He had no idea his sister had this type of talent! Staring at Vanessa with slight shame in his eyes for doubting her, Christian beamed.

*“Ness….why didn’t you tell us you were this talented!”*

Harold looked at Christian with a puzzled expression. Taking the book from him, he began to look through the drawings; his eyes began to beam.

*“Nessie!! This is incredible!!! I can get you into any school in this state with these sketches! I’ll get right on it!”*

After her meeting with her father and brother, Vanessa raced back to her room. Slamming the door nervously; she began to panic.

*“If Josie finds out I’m using her sketches she’ll tell dad and Chris!!”*

At that moment, she decided….Josie had to leave…immediately.

Two days later, after visiting her friends at a spa, on the way home Vanessa watched a young woman waiting for the light to change at the crosswalk. As if possessed by a demon, as soon as the light turned green for the pedestrian cross; Vanessa sped through the light hitting the woman with full force sending her body flying into the air. Her adrenaline pumping at a high rate, she quickly sped off before anyone could stop her heading straight home. She knew the CCTV cameras would catch her license plate, she only had to hope they didn’t see her face.

After arriving home, she concocted the story of driving drunk praying her best case scenario would play out. For Vanessa, it was serendipity that Josie’s grandmother was sick and needed an expensive medication.

*“So what’s it going to be Josie? Will you take the fall for your sister and save your grandmother?”*

When Josie caved and decided to take the blame, a euphoric feeling filled Vanessa’s chest. This was the will of the gods…even they knew she was supposed to be queen.
