**Chapter 37: Time to meet the devil.**

The group all arrived at the Hotel restaurant around noon. As everyone made their way to their table, Marlon jokingly scanned the room.

*“So….everybody have fun?”*

The group all began to laugh as they sat down.

*“Well it most certainly seems like you did dummy.”*

Josie said slyly as she stared at Marlon and Emily who was now blushing. Evelyn’s husband Roger grinned at Oliver.

*“Looks like you slept well Ollie.”*

*“Shut up.”*

Oliver continued to read over the menu without looking up causing everyone to laugh.

Suddenly, Oliver looked up at Joshua.

*"I meant to ask you Josh, how come we didn't stay at one of the Watt- Resorts?"*

Joshua nodded as if he understood the question.

*"Originally we were, but Marlon and Em brought us a valid point. Satying at one of my resorts could have resulted in a press coverage. We don't want Josie's cover being blown. And we definitely don't want anyone knwoing we're all connected. Both me and Adrianna being at the resort would have definitely caused unwanted attention."*

Oliver nodded in agreement. He understood the reason for caution. Them being exposed in the press would have certainly ruined everything.

After the waiter took everyone’s orders; Josie began to speak.

*“Okay…Em gave me the cliff-notes last night. Uncle Oliver….if I understand correctly; you’re investigating the Tillman murder right?”*

Oliver nodded.

*“Well, not necessarily investigating the murder itself; but I am trying to figure out who he was in contact with. Victor told me the cops haven’t been able to find any forms of communication which means he probably had another phone that was undocumented.”*

Victor nodded in agreement.

*“We’re thinking whoever killed him probably took it along with any other evidence. It’s more than likely; especially if the Taylors truly are involved.”*

Although Josie had the video of Vanessa and Jamie, Adam informed her it wouldn’t be enough to convict; especially if they were going against a family as powerful as the Taylors. For a conviction, they would need tangible proof.

*“Okay….maybe do some digging on Christian, Jamie, and Harold. Try seeing if there are any people they may have that does ‘special favors’ for them.”*

Oliver and Victor nodded in agreement. Evelyn spoke next; a hint of nervousness in her voice.

*“Josie, I think we may have found the facility where your grandmother was taken before her passing.”*

Both Josie and Marlon’s eyes widen with shock.

Evelyn asked her husband to Dr. Roger Woods, if he could assist her and Georgia in trying to locate the facility the Taylors dumped Darlene in. After learning about what happened to Josie, he was more than eager to help. Nodding in agreement, Roger began to explain.

*“I won’t know for sure until Monday, but I think it’s the facility. I was able to pull some strings claiming to be her general doctor. I got a lead to a facility called Freedmont. It’s located right outside of Bridgeton.”*

As Roger’s eyes darkened, he hesitated on the next part.

*“What….just say it.”*

Josie’s voice was low, though she dreaded the words that would soon follow as she could just about guess why Roger’s eyes darkened.

*“I did a little research on that facility….if she was in there….”*

He didn’t need to say anything further; both Josie and Marlon understood exactly what he meant. The Taylors really did send her to a hellhole. Suddenly, Marlon slammed his hand into the table causing everyone to jump.

*“Even after everything…..even after every-fucking-thing!!! They forced Josie to go to prison! Got her abused!! And they still couldn’t take care of our nana!!!”*

Marlon immediately stood up and walked away from the table; Emily followed behind him. As the rest of the group sat in silence. Josie could feel the tears stream down her face. Joshua rubbed her back; he knew no words would be enough at this point. Josie's voice was husky as she began to speak.

*“The competition is in one week; thanks to Adrianna and the shares I've already purchased; I now own 51 percent of HT-Corp’s shares. Time to move towards the final phase and end them once and for all.”*

As Malon and Emily made their way back to the table; the waiters also appeared with their food. Marlon looked at his cousin; an unspoken understanding between the two of them as he nodded his head in agreement. Looking back at the table, Marlon apologized for losing his temper.

*“Honestly….I give you both credit for the restraint you’ve shown. This type of crime deserves death as the penalty.”*

Adrianna shook her head in disgust. Never had she heard of such despicable human beings. A sardonic smile creeped onto Josie’s face.

*“No….that’s too simple. We don’t know if there is a hell after death….let’s make sure they meet the devil while they’re still breathing.”*

Everyone nodded in agreement as silence filled the room.

After arriving back home, Josie looked at Emily.

*“I want you to reach out to HT-Corp’s board. Be discreet, neither Harold nor Christian can know. It’s time they chose a new Chairman.”*

Emily smiled. She’d already gathered personal intel on the board of directors for HT-Corp. Now was the time to put everything into motion.

*“Yes Ms. Bowen. Oh, and it’s Chairwoman.”*

Emily winked as she made her way the study. Josie smiled as she turned to Joshua.

*“Ready to solidify your role as CEO?”*

A devilish grin appeared on his face.

*“Indeed Chairwoman.”*

As Josie made her way to the living room, Marlon walked in holding a box.

*“Hey, where’d you go?”*

Josie asked as she sat on the sofa and opened her laptop.

*“I went to pickup the mail. Hey…this one is for you.”*

Both Joshua and Josie looked surprised. Who would send her a package? Joshua’s eyes darkened.

*“They don’t know you’re here right?”*

Josie immediately shook her head.

*“No….no there’s no way. We’ve been monitoring them closely; I would have known if they found out.”*

Joshua nodded in agreement as Josie took the box from Marlon. There was no name on the sender’s section. Confused, she opened the box. Inside the box contained a USB drive and a tablet with a note. As Josie read the note, her eyes widen in shock. Her hands began to shake as she could hardly believe what she’d just read.

Nervous, both Marlon and Joshua asked her who the note was from. In a voice just above a whisper, Josie turned to them both.

*“Tillman.”*
