Chapter 33: When it all falls down.

***\-Rabena’s POV:***

After an emotional story and embrace. The ballroom was filled with tears from the story of the little orphan girl and disgust for her biological family. Shouts from the crowd irrupted towards the Crests and Thomas. Daniel and Darius looked at their parents with disgust but said nothing for they also participated in the mistreatment and abuse of their sister.

As the family finished embracing Rabena, she made her way over to Thomas and the Crests. Pure hatred and disgust rested within her eyes.

*“Thomas, you should know I had a meeting with your grandmother regarding the business deal between the Lockwoods and MGT Corp. You’ll be glad to know I convince my fiancé to still go into business with them.”*

Thomas’s eyes lit up; he went to reach for Rabena’s hands, but she jerked away.

*“Thank you so much Rabena. I promise I won’t-”*

Rabena held her hand up to stop Thomas from speaking.

*“I wouldn’t thank me just yet. I made the deal with the chairwoman under the condition Tyler becomes CEO. She’s assured me that won’t be a problem. And seeing as to how you never even read my business proposal, and he read the entire thing, I think it’s only fair he leads this project.”*

As fast as Thomas was about to rejoice, that’s how quickly his joy came to an end. The color drained completely from his face as his knees began to buckle. He frantically searched for his grandmother who looked at him with disgust while standing next to Tyler.

*“Grandmother!! Tell her that’s not true!! Tell her either I’m the CEO or there’s no deal! Tell her!!”*

Thomas began to frantically yell; on his knees in front of his grandmother, he panicked as she stared down at him. Looking at Thomas for the disgraceful fool he’d always been, the chairwoman’s hand landed hard on his cheek.

*SLAP!*

Thomas grabbed his cheek, stunned his grandmother hit him.

*“You’re a complete disgrace! Your father and I did everything we could to turn you into a respectable young man and leader, but you’ve done nothing but turn into a lazy, spoiled, selfish, fool!”*

The chairwoman unleashed all her fury out on Thomas, he’d embarrassed the Lockwood name for the final time.

*“You couldn’t even be good to the young woman that saved my life! Rabena was every bit the ideal spouse and I regret wasting a person like her on a person like you! You’ve coasted all these years off of her talent and your cousins hard-work. Well, no more! From this point on you’re no longer apart of Lockwood Corp!”*

Thomas looked on in horror, his entire future gone within a matter of minutes.

*“N-No, grandmother! You can’t do this to me!!!”*

Tyler stood in front of his grandmother and gripped Thomas up.

*“Stop embarrassing yourself Thomas, it’s over.”*

Tyler released Thomas causing him to fall directly on back.

Rabena then walked over to Danielle who was looking on in horror and anger. This wasn’t fair! She was supposed to get everything! She was always first! How had things gone so wrong for her yet so right for her worthless sister!

*SLAP!*

Rabena’s hand came flying across Danielle’s cheek. As she let out a loud yelp, Rabena leaned down and spoke.

*“That’s for these past five years of making my life a living hell.”*

*SLAP!*

Another swift and hard slap followed.

*“That. That’s for saying my name wrong all these years. My name RUBY not RABY! Never forget it!”*

Danielle looked up at her sister in horror. How dare she slap her and treat her like this! Rabena looked at her entire Crest family with pure disgust. Walking towards Amber who was now being held down by the security team; Rabena could feel her heart slowly mending.

*“I hope you know Amber; I’m never going to spend another day thinking about you. But I’m sure you will spend many nights thinking about me. I’m sure you’ll start with denial; blame me for everything. Accountability has never been your strong suite. But eventually, the harsh reality of your actions will come crumbling down; and you’ll know, the life you could have had with you daughter was destroyed by your hands.”*

Amber’s eyes bulged with shock and fear, never had Rabena spoke to her like this. Rabena stood up straight and looked at her father and two brothers.

*“It’s really a shame, the day I learned about all of you, all I could think about was the life I would get to build knowing I had yet another family to love and cherish. I guess I was being too greedy. Never again.”*

Aaron walked up behind Rabena gently wrapping his hand around her waist. Looking down at Davis.

*“Just so you know Crest, I went directly to your board. They’ve agreed to vote you and your sons out. They found out about all the backdoor and illegal deals you’ve been doing, and they didn’t seem so happy about it. They’ve agreed to appoint Damon as the new Chairman, and he’ll be selling it as a sister company to MGT Corp so that he can continue his career in engineering and technology.”*

Davis as well as Darius and Daniel began to panic. Trying to stand, the security team pushed Davis back down to his knees.

*“YOU CAN’T DO THIS! Damon!! We’re you’re family!! How could you steal the company like this for…”*

Davis stopped himself before finishing his sentence. Darius and Daniel looked on in disappointment. Damon shook his head, the last bit of respect for his father gone.

*“All these years dad and you still don’t get. You all may not have cared, but I’m her big brother. Honestly, if I had known the full truth, I wouldn’t have been so generous.”*

Aaron chimed in.

*“Be glad your son was noble enough to make sure you all didn’t end up with nothing. If it were up to me, you’d all be in the street.”*

With that, Aaron ordered for all of them to be removed from the ballroom. Loud claps and cheers followed as they were all kicked out. Many of the guests extended their sympathies and congratulations to Rabena and Damon.

The rest of the evening went off without a hitch. All the bad energy that sucked up the room had now evaporated. As the crowd made their way outside for the fireworks show, Rabena pulled Aaron to a quiet corner. Aaron looked at her with slight guilt in his eyes. Pulling his face close to hers, Rabena planted a passionate kiss on his lips. After kissing for what felt like a lifetime, Aaron slowly pulled her away.

*“Rabena…I’m sorr-”*

Rabena placed her fingers on Aaron’s lips stopping him from finishing. Smiling she spoke in a low and loving tone.

*“Just tell me you love me and all will be forgiven.”*

Aaron could feel his heart swell; the woman he had loved for over seven years he finally had and would never let go.

*“I love you forever.”*

Rabena dawned a huge smile. She knew later that evening Aaron would make sure to show her just how much he loved her. She blushed at the thought as she eagerly could not wait.
