Chasing His Kickass Luna Back Chapter 333
Abby
Karl and I finally step into my apartment after a long night, the door clicking shut behind us.
I slide my heels off with a sigh of relief as Karl loosens his tie, tossing it aside. An easy silence hangs between us for a few minutes; we’re both lost in our own thoughts after the chance encounter with Adam tonight.
My ex-fiance’s earnest offer keeps replaying through my mind. Returning to a bustling kitchen, creating delectable dishes for happy patrons—even temporarily, the temptation proves to be painfully seductive after so long spent without the pride and joy that is my restaurant.
Karl clears his throat, pulling me out of my deep train of thought. “You’re considering Adam’s proposal.”
It’s more a statement than a question. I nod slowly, wrapping my arms around myself. “It just feels too good to be true,” I say quietly. “The possibility of feeling normal again, of doing what I love...”
“I understand why cooking appeals to you. But why not return to the pack instead?” Karl steps closer, hands framing my hips. “I still stand by what I said about opening a restaurant for you there. If your restaurant here reopens, maybe you could even do both.”
I let out a small laugh. “That’s a lot of work, Karl.”
He shrugs. “Still,” he says. “You know I’d do whatever it takes to make you happy. If you want to stay here, then I won’t stop you, but… I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be heartbroken to not bring you home with me.”
I sigh, leaning instinctively into Karl’s strong chest. “I know. But Officer Martinez believes I’m safer under her jurisdiction here, at least for now. This case is more complicated than we realized.”
Karl’s jaw tightens. I reach up to smooth the crease between his brows. “I’m not rejecting you, or the pack,” I say. “I just… I never promised I’d permanently move back in, you know? We’re still figuring things out between us.”
Silence falls, thick with unspoken fears about our tentative situation. After three long years and a whole lot of heartbreak and anger, it feels strange to say that we’re back together; and even more strange to talk about permanently living under the same roof. It all feels so… fast.
But then, much to my surprise, Karl releases a slow breath, his arms winding around me. “You’re right. I shouldn’t assume or pressure you into anything, no matter how strongly my instincts demand keeping you close.”
My eyes widen a bit at his words. “Really?”
He nods, leaning down to press a warm kiss against my lips. He doesn’t need to speak; his kiss says it all.
Eventually, Karl pulls back to meet my gaze. “Why don’t we compromise? We’ll spend alternating weeks here in the city and back at the mansion. With the new situation with my brother, maybe it could work for the best. After all, now he can handle leadership duties in my absence.”
Surprised delight flickers through me. “So we’d switch off who stays where?” I ask.
Karl nods. “Well, for now, you should just follow Officer Martinez’s advice and stay here,” he says. “But I’ll still come every other week. After that…”
“You’re sure?” I find myself asking. “What about the pack duties?”
He lets out a small sigh. “I trust my brother, and it could be ideal. I’ll have to talk to him of course, but… I could spend one to two weeks here every month, and do whatever I can from here. I won’t need to feel bad about abandoning my pack, either.”
His words make my chest feel lighter. To remain involved with both worlds, to have Karl willing to split time between them for me… it seems almost too perfect to be true.
“Let’s try it,” I say. “Thank you, Karl.”
Karl smiles, clearly pleased by my enthusiasm over his suggestion. “Anything for you, Abby. You know that.”
Overcome with emotion, I throw my arms around his neck in a fierce hug. “Have I mentioned lately how amazing you are?” I mumble into his skin. Chuckling, Karl just holds me tighter.
After a long moment of enjoying the closeness, he leans back a little to meet my gaze solemnly. “You have my full support to pursue this opportunity with Adam. I know how much regaining a sense of normalcy would mean right now. Just promise you won’t forget about me when I’m back at the mansion without you.”
There’s a sense of vulnerability in Karl’s attempted teasing tone that squeezes my heart. I cup his face in my hands, pulling him a little closer so that our lips almost touch.
“Never,” I whisper. “No matter where my work takes me, you’ll always have my whole heart.”
The glow of happiness and relief that fills Karl’s dark eyes warms me to my very soul. He dips his head to capture my mouth in a slow, heated kiss. My fingers twist in the fabric of his shirt, pulling him impossibly closer as I lose myself in his lips, his taste, his touch.
With deliberate care, Karl begins walking me backward through the dark apartment. My legs hit the couch and I topple back onto the cushions, Karl following me down without breaking our fervent kiss.
I arch up eagerly into his solid warmth as his hands trail hot paths down my sides. Our breathing turns harsh and ragged within moments.
With practiced skill Karl nudges my dress up my thighs. I whimper when his skilled fingers slip beneath the hem of my panties to trace delicately along my most sensitive nerves.
He knows exactly how and where to touch me in order to have me shaking and begging for more within minutes.
I clutch desperately at Karl’s shoulders as his touch intensifies, white hot pleasure burning every coherent thought out of my mind. His mouth swallows my voice, his tongue swirling around mine as his fingers continue working me gently but firmly.
When I finally go limp beneath him Karl grows a little more gentle, pressing tender kisses across my flushed face. I float blissfully beneath him, feeling like I’m on a cloud.
I missed this.
Eventually, I somehow manage to summon the energy to pry my eyes open. Karl is still hovering over me, his eyes gleaming with hunger in the low light. The sight of him sends a fresh jolt through my spine.
“Well?” he murmurs, his voice low and husky. “You won’t forget me after that, will you?”
I loop my arms around his neck with a sultry grin. “Don’t get too smug yet, Alpha. I think you may need another reminder about how much I want you.”
Karl’s lips twitch upwards into a smirk. “Is that a challenge?”
I answer by grabbing his shirt and pulling him into a desperate kiss. Something warm and hard presses against my leg, causing a new wave of pleasure to wash over me. I reach down, my fingers working at his belt buckle, slipping into his pants and stroking his warm, throbbing cock.
…
Karl brushes a strand of sweat-damp hair out of my eyes with unbearably tender affection. “I missed this, you know,” he murmurs.
I can’t help but smirk. “No one does it quite like you.”
Karl lets out a low growl and pins my wrist against the couch, his lips grazing my neck as he speaks. “Forget about anyone else you were with,” he murmurs. “You’re mine now. My mate. Forever and always.”
His words send a pleasant shiver down my spine, his possessive arm making me tingle even though we just finished satisfying each other.
“Forever,” I whisper, bucking my hips into him. “And always.”
