Goddess Of The Underworld. Chapter 28
A shower was exactly what I needed. The ocean was lovely but gosh that ocean smell was strong. Surprisingly, Levi is waiting for me in the bedroom.
“Hey...”
“Hey doll.” He looks up at me. “I just wanted to apologize for being snappy before. My wolf and I... We were just missing you and I was upset that Xavier didn’t keep us in the loop, but I understand you two were having fun.”
“Are you feeling left out?” I ask curiously and he pouts, actually pouts at me like a sad little puppy. Levi is my emotional one, he feels big things and tries hard to hide it. He huffs a breath and looks down at his hands. Without thinking, I move his hands and straddle his lap to give him a cuddle. He snuggles into my neck and embraces me tightly on a long exhale.
“Thank you... Flint and I needed that. I give him a kiss on the cheek and pat his chest as I stand again.
“Would Flint also like to feed me? Cause I’m starving.” On cue my stomach growls loudly making him smile.
“Can I actually feed you?”
I didn’t answer Levi, but apparently that warrants as acceptance because he strode into that dining room with a purpose. Haiden held out a chair for me like a gentleman and Levi plopped himself right into it, tugging at my hand until I sat in his lap. Haiden looks like someone stole his favourite toy when he takes a seat next to me, but the first bite of roast beef steals a moan from me making his, and the others expression change dramatically. Levi stiffens, Haiden practically drools, Xavier has his eyes trained on my mouth and when I turn my head to Noah, he’s leaning in further to maybe inhale me through his nose.
“Is it that good, Luna?” Noah smirks.
“Uh…yeah. I worked up an appetite today.” I blush at the realisation.
After dinner I meet up with Aleisha in the garden at the back of the pack house to discuss a few more ceremony plans and of course she wants all the details of todays date. I give her the version that won’t have her gagging at the thought of her brother and I getting handsy.
“So…you like them?” She questions excitedly.
“They’re…well they’re all different, aren’t they? But yeah, I guess they all have certain qualities I admire.”
“Admire? Girllll, I could scent your bloody arousal wafting through the packhouse since you got home!”
I blanche. “You…can smell me?!”
She cracks out a laugh. “Oh yeah, it’s much stronger than other she wolves, but I guess that’s because you’re a soon to be Luna and all.”
“Oh my god…” I cover my face with my hands, and she leans closer on the patch of grass to whisper.
“Your scent is also mixed with Xaviers.”
My eyes blow wide as I stare at her. Does that mean…oh my god…obviously the others could smell it then too. Is that why they were so needy? Will they be jealous? Am I going to be the cause of a fight?
“Relax! Jeeze I can practically hear the cogs turning in your head!” Aleisha slaps a hand on my arm. “If you’re worried about what anyone is going to think, don’t, because we’re all ecstatic that we’re finally gaining a new Luna, and my brother’s will be equally happy that at least one of them is winning you over so far.”
“You don’t think they’ll be jealous?”
“Jealous? No, not possible. Will there be some competition? Maybe. They’ll probably all just try harder for your attention if anything. Speaking of…” She nods her head in the direction of the back porch where Noah stands patiently waiting.
I shake my head. They are relentless.
“I know that they’re not all exactly what you might have envisioned for your mates, but don’t let the fact that they have skeletons in their closets ruin your idea of them.” Aleisha nudges my shoulder and helps me stand. “Give them all a chance, yeah?”
“Yeah…” I sigh out as we cross the garden. “I’ll give them a chance.”
“Luna.” Noah holds out his hand as I reach the stairs and he guides me inside. I let out a yawn and shiver from the slight coolness of the night. We don’t speak as we walk through the pack house, but the way he holds my hand like I might possibly break or leave says everything. He’s worried, I can feel it.
“Do you have to work tonight?” I ask as we reach my bedroom door.
“Not tonight, no, but early morning again, yes. We have a lot to prepare for.”
I nod slowly, only slightly understanding just how much needs to be done. Milly, Aleisha and I have been working on decorations, table settings, menus, entertainment, rooms and crap, the Alpha’s side of it is literally everything else. The other guys file out of their bedrooms, freshly showered with damp hair, they don’t move closer when I turn into my room, leaving the door open as a clear invitation. I take a pair of pyjamas into the bathroom to change and when I come back out, they’re all still standing outside in the hallway. I flick off the lamp on my bedside table, climb into the middle of the bed and look up to the hallway.
“Well? You’re not all going to stand their all night, are you?”
Haiden steps into the room first, “are you inviting us into your bed, love?” He smirks, prowling closer.
“As long as you keep your hands to yourself.”
He jumps in one side and instantly pulls my back to his front, spooning me and I yelp.
“No promises, love.” He nuzzles into my neck, making me laugh. Xaiver climbs in the opposite side, pulling me out of Haiden’s grip as he protests and lays me on his chest. Noah and Levi climb in as well, finding space on the other side of the bed and all at once they start purring, sending me off quickly into a deep, deep sleep.
