Goddess Of The Underworld. Chapter 36
“So...you up for a ride today, doll?”
“A ride on what?” she looks around curiously.
“On me.” Font says in his deeper tone.
“Oh, oh really!?”
I hand Envy the backpack and tighten the straps on her so it won’t come lose and then I begin to strip my clothes, tossing them into one of the nearby trees. Envy looks literally everywhere but right at me but that doesn’t stop her scent from changing. She likes this.
I quickly shift and nudge her hip to get her attention and the awe in her eyes turns Flint into a mushy puddle. She gives us a long pet and when we lower onto our belly she gets the gist of what we’re trying to tell her. Ever so gently she mounts us, wrapping her arms around our chest, her thighs tightening on our sides and her head lays on our back.
*We should carry mate all the time, everywhere* Flint purrs loudly making her giggle and then we set off at a gentle pace. Her core is definitely rubbing along our spine because that dizzying scent is only growing stronger. It’s distracting really. I have to make a very conscious effort to avoid all the trees. Envy yips and laughs as be jump over a fallen tree and that spurs me on to see if maybe she would like to go a little faster. Her laughter increases as our pace does and it’s a beautiful sound. Just me, my mate and the world around us.
*And me* Flint grunts.
Right, and my wolf.
It’s a fair run to the spot I’m searching for but when I hear the tell tale sigh of a waterfall I know I’ve found it. It’s a spot we haven’t come to in years. My brothers and I must have been maybe six the last time our parents brought us. Mum used to tell us stories of how she fell in love with our father here. I can only hope that this place holds a sort of magic that helps Envy fall in love with me. We slow to a walk as we pass through the walls of stone and vines into the hidden caverns where the waterfall and hot springs are
“Wow...” Envy breaths out as I lower myself so she can slide off my back.
I shift behind her as she watches the water and gently tug the the bag off her back to get my spare clothes out. I opt for a pair of swim shorts and grab out the black bikini Aleisha picked out.
“Wanna have a swim, doll?”
I brush my chest along her back and she gasps in surprise before she spins to see the swimmers in my hand. I almost want to blush myself when I catch her eyes roaming along my chest as she checks me out. She takes the bikini and I turn around so she can change. My long hair is catching in the wind and that reminds me to tie it up. I grab a tie out of my pocket but when I reach back to grab my hair, Envy’s hands capture my wrists, making me still
“Don’t. I like it down.”
“You do?” I turn around to see if I can detect a lie in her face but what I see when I turn has left my jaw on the bloody floor. The black swimmers don’t leave much to the imagination. They highlight all of her features.
“I do.” She twirls a strand in her fingers, smiling up at me.
“You look...wow...doll.”
“You’re pretty wow yourself.” She blushes.
I take her hand slowly and she interlocks our fingers. My heart beats double time from the contact and I know I’m falling head over heels for my mate.
“The water looks beautiful.” She says softly.
“Yeah, this was Mum and Dad’s spot. They used to bring us here when we were kids, but things got too busy to make it out here as we got older.”
“It sounds like you guys had a pretty good childhood.”
“Hmm, yeah, we were lucky in that sense.”
The water laps around my feet as I guide Envy into the slopping parts of the rocks that lead into the pool of water. “It used to be a lot prettier. There were vines on the walls and different flowers around the pool, and I swear I remember the water used to glow with a blue hue as the different pockets of light danced along the water.” I explained, pointing to the areas where things had been left to die. “It’s said this place was sacred to Selene, the Moon Goddess, but as time went on it just died away, like the magic was no longer here.”
“I can imagine it.” Envy says softly, closing her eyes as the water laps around her waist and she holds a dead and dried flower from the waters edge. I’m lost in the way she looks so at peace here. I’ve always felt like these waters had healing properties when we were kids. Whatever troubles we had would wash away on the days we spent here playing and eating by the foliage. It’s not like it once was, but I had hoped that Envy could still see the beauty in it. Still with her eyes closed, I blink a few times to try and clear my vision because I swear the water around her starts to glow, but blinking doesn’t clear it away, no, it only makes it more apparent that the water is indeed glowing in a soft ring around her. She brings the dead flower to her nose as if she can still smell its aroma, and when she exhales long and slow onto the petals, they too begin to glow, first in a blue and then it fades, spreading soft pink hues throughout it. The petals begin to unfold and come back to life. She opens her eyes with a gasp and looks from me to the flower and back to me.
“Goddess blessed.” I breath out.
“Wow…”
She places the now beautiful pink lily into the water and it floats on the surface away from us, spreading a glowing blue throughout the water where it goes.
