Goddess Of The Underworld. Chapter 29
“Loveyyyyyyyyyy”
I swat at the hand poking my ribs. “Fuck off”, I mumble.
Haiden’s deep chuckle vibrates through me as he nuzzles my neck.
“But I made breakfast in bed!” He explains in an overly chipper voice.
I peak one eye open to see the massive spread he’s placed on one side of the bed.
“Why is there food in the bed?”
“Because it’s supposed to be relaxing. Dad does it for Mum whenever he’s trying to spoil her.”
“That’s an odd way to spoil someone. Isn’t it unhygienic?”
“It’s romantic…” he huffs and looks slightly deflated. I sit up, careful not to jostle any of the plates and cups that are stacked on serving boards.
“Are those sword pancakes?” I smile and he beams, puffing his chest out.
“Yep, made them myself.”
“That is very sweet of you. Thank you.”
He sits next to me, taking a plate and piling it full of bits and pieces. Looking closer I can see there must have been a lot of effort put into the spread and it’s still quite early in the morning.
“How early did you wake up to do all of this?”
“Way too early…but it was worth it. Here, eat, please.” He passes me the plate, and I happily accept the monstrous proportion.
“So…are you going to tell me what we’re doing today?”
“Nope! It’s still a surprise, one I’m sure you’ll love though. I picked out an outfit.” He points to the wardrobe where I assume there will be something out on display.
After breakfast I shower and change into the tights, simple white T shirt and joggers laid out for me. I tie my hair into a simple pony and opt for a clean face. Makeup was never really my thing anyway.
“Ready?!” Haiden bounces from foot to foot when I leave the bedroom. His excitement rubbing off, making me smile.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
He grabs my hand and we practically run through the pack house, passing Aleisha and Tommy on our way through who Haiden growls at slightly when they try to say hello.
“Today is my day.” He says passing by them swiftly with me close behind. I giggle and wave to Aleisha before I’m whisked outside and stopped abruptly.
“What the fuck is that?” I breathe out, staring up at the biggest balloon I’ve ever seen in my life.
“That’s our ride today, love.” Haiden beams at me.
“You can’t ride on a balloon!” He laughs, and points to the basket below the balloon that I had clearly missed before.
“It’s a hot hair balloon and no we wont ride on it, but in it, well in the basket really. I’ve always wanted to try it but never had anyone I wanted to try it with, before you of course.”
“Oh my god…”
He peers down at me, looking slightly worried. “But if you don’t want to…”
I cut him off with a swift slap to the arm. “This is so fucking cool!”
His grin spreads across his face once again as he tugs on my hand. “Well your chariot awaits.”
The balloon…driver? I don’t know, the guy who knows how this contraption works stays nice and quite during the ride. It’s a surreal experience. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. Haiden stands with his chest pressed against my back, arms wrapped tightly around me as he points out different parts of the lands we float around. It ends all too soon when we reach a large grass field and begin our decent. No sooner are out feet on the ground; Haiden is leading be over to what he says is an ‘air strip’. The time I’ve spent secluded to pack lands is clearly showing but he seems to revel in telling me all about everything. I’m too distracted with everything to notice that we’re standing in front of a small aeroplane.
“Ready to go back up?” He points to the sky.
“If it’s anything like the last ride, hell yes!”
He chuckles like he’s holding a dark secret, but I follow him anyway onto the plane. This one moves a lot faster than the balloon. I’ve seen them before distantly in the sky but never really questioned them before. They were merely things of unimportance. Now we’re racing down the runway and this new instructor who’s name is Dave is strapping things to the both of us and giving us a “rundown” as he says. The wind is whipping hard through the planes open door and I’m just so excited by everything that I also miss when he says, “Then you’ll jump.”
“I’m sorry, what the fuck did you just say?”
“We’ll jump.” Haiden says as he stands behind me and the instructor starts strapping us together.
“Jump…from where?”
“From roughly, over there.” Haiden points to the distant sky and I whip my head as far as I can around to look at him with wide eyes.
“We can’t fly, Wobbles! We’re not birds!”
He laughs, long and deep as he taps the bag on his back.
“We’ll be fine, trust me. I’ve done this a million times. Not with my mate, but I know what I’m doing, trust me.”
I suck in a deep breath as Dave says we’re ready to go.
“Ready, love?”
“Fuck…as ready as I’ll ever be.” I say slightly unsure.
Haiden nods and we step closer to the open doorway to our doom and then, we jump. The wind whips around my face and limps as Haiden guides my arms out like we might actually be fucking birds. There’s nothing but the wind, the fall, and the Alpha wolf howling through the wind as we fall, further and further, faster and faster until this brightly coloured parachute opens up above us and the decent lessens to a more floaty feeling. The whole experience is liberating, eye opening, fucking breath taking and I love it. I fucking bask in it. I find myself laughing freely as we get closer and closer to another open field. Our touch down to solid earth is less than graceful as we stumble over each other and roll and tangle in the cords and parachute.
“Fuck, sorry love, hold on.” Haiden grumbles trying to wiggle himself free with no luck and I laugh more. We’re essentially tied up and stuck. He managed to disconnect the two of us and rolls so I’m on top of him, but we’re still hopelessly stuck together. I mauver myself to roll over on him so we’re now nose to nose with only the smallest amount of slack on the bindings.
“That was fucking amazing!” I laugh and he stops trying to wiggle free and just lays his head back on the grass smiling up at me with all the awe in the world.
“You liked it?”
“Loved it!”
