After parting ways with Thora, Darius went straight back to Astralis.

Of course—before they separated—he couldn't help clinging to her for a while. He kissed and hugged her until she finally lost patience and smacked him away with one palm. Only then did he settle down.

Darius sighed to himself. It had only been a year, but it was already unbearable. He didn't even know how he would get through the rest of the year.

But then, he thought about it. After one more year, he and Thora would form their bond. When that happens, all the werewolves would know they were mates.

The thought comforted him. He sneaked one last kiss on Thora's cheek before turning away with a shameless grin.

Two planes carved long white trails across the sky, flying in opposite directions.

Every year around this time, Blue Star Military Academy was especially busy. During new student entrance exams, unexpected incidents were almost inevitable, so every precaution had to be airtight.

After Thora's plane completed signal verification on the academy's outer perimeter, the protective shield opened a gap. The aircraft passed through and quickly disappeared among the campus buildings.

The sound of military boots echoed down the hallway.

Inside the academy's conference room, Davis, Valen, and other senior officials were sat upright. Apparently they discussing something important.

The moment they heard the footsteps, the discussion stopped. All eyes turned toward the door.

The guard at the entrance straightened and saluted sharply.

The black boots that had just stepped inside came to an immediate halt. Thora returned the salute before stepping forward. "Command Institute, Thora, here to report!"

Everyone's gaze shifted from her to Davis.

He looked dignified yet approachable. "Thora, welcome back."

Valen, on the other hand, was much harsher. "Why are you still standing there? Get over here and sit down! You're the last one. Where are your manners?!"

As always, he was strict with her, showing no pleasant expression at all. He was completely different from the time he had panicked when she went missing and nearly went out himself to search for her.

Thora was used to it. She politely nodded to the teachers, then walked over, pulled out the only empty chair, and sat down calmly.

Among all the academy's senior officials, Thora was the only student present. As the chief examiner for the new student entrance exams recommended by Valen, it was only natural for her to be there. In fact, she had rushed back specifically for this meeting and had just barely made it in time.

After the meeting ended, Thora intended to return and rest, but Davis and Valen asked her to stay.

They mainly questioned her about the details of her recent mission.

Aside from keeping certain personal matters to herself, Thora reported everything with all honesty, including information about the Blue Star Research Institute.

After listening, Davis looked at her deeply. He didn't press her for minor details. Instead, he said, "Thora, you must protect yourself. No matter the outcome of a mission, your safety must come first."

Thora felt slightly puzzled but nodded. "Thank you, Mr. Ewing. I understand."

In her opinion, Blue Star Military Academy had always prioritized mission success above all else. Casualties during missions weren't uncommon. She had interacted with Davis many times and had never expected him to say something like that. The words "protect yourself" felt like they carried some deeper meaning, though she couldn't quite place it.

Afterward, the three of them briefly discussed the entrance exams. The academy had already finalized all evaluation items, so there wasn't much left to debate.

As chief examiner, Thora's primary responsibility would be to handle unexpected situations and matters related to the new students, just like Valen had once done for her.

Most importantly, they had to prevent a repeat of last year's incident.

After finishing his instructions, Valen asked, "Who are you planning to choose as your assistant?"

Thora's lips curved slightly as she said without hesitation, "Roxen, of course."

Valen wasn't surprised. Other than Thora, Roxen had the strongest overall ability in the entire academy, and his improvement was obvious.

He nodded. "Last year, he was an upperclassman participating in your entrance exams. This year he's an examiner alongside you. That's kind of interesting...

"Oh, right. There are two more things I need to tell you." Valen suddenly remembered something.

Thora frowned slightly. "What's it?"

"After this mission, Tristan and the others brought back a child. He's currently at the academy. Seems to have some autistic tendencies. He's been insisting on seeing you. I suggest you go take a look."

A child?

Thora immediately thought of Elmer—the boy who was about five or six. They had actually brought him back.

"I understand," she said, nodding.

"And one more thing," Valen added, looking at her. "Adrian left the academy five days ago."

Thora's expression remained calm, but a faint flicker passed through her eyes. "Mm."

She had expected Adrian's departure. She just hadn't expected it to happen so soon.

Valen then took something out of his drawer and handed it to her. "He asked me to give this to you."
