Neither of them spoke. They only stood there, looking at each other for a long moment.

Darius's eyes were flooded with tenderness that refused to fade. With a soft laugh, he lowered his head and pressed a deep kiss to Thora's lips.

One of Thora's arms braced against the car. The instant his tongue slipped past her lips, she used that leverage to push forward and pin him against the vehicle instead.

Her fingers locked around his neck and shoulder. The usual cool detachment fell away, and she turned the tables without hesitation, taking control and breaking through his defenses step by step.

The force of it made them sway slightly. Their legs tangled together on instinct, their breaths intertwining, hot enough to set the air on fire.

A flicker of amusement crossed Darius's eyes. Quietly, he freed one hand and pressed against the car door. It slid open at once.

He let himself fall backward, still gripping Thora tightly by the waist, and dragged her into the car with him. They landed heavily on the seat together.

They were both tall, and most of their long legs were still hanging outside the car, but the intimacy inside never paused for even a second.

Thora stayed just as fierce as before, almost greedy in the way she took his warmth and his breath.

But Darius gradually shed that first edge of dominance. His kiss turned lingering and gentle, his tongue brushing against hers with exquisite care, as if he wanted to pour all the longing of the past two years into this single kiss. Inside the car, quiet, intimate sounds rose and fell.

At last, after what felt like forever, Darius pulled back with obvious reluctance. He looked at the emotion Thora couldn't quite hide in her eyes, at the way she still tried to hold herself in check despite it. That restraint made her more alluring than ever.

He slipped his fingers through the loose strands of hair falling over her shoulder, his voice so gentle it seemed almost to melt.

"Welcome back, my Thora."

Thora looked at him. Light shimmered in her deep eyes, and the corners of her lips lifted into a faint but unmistakably real smile.

Yes. She was back.

It turned out she had missed him even more than she had realized.

At the same time, outside Thora's villa, Howard had lost count of how many days he had spent standing at the gate, waiting for her return.

He hugged a broom listlessly and let out a long sigh.

"Day 750 since Ms. Green left. I miss her. I miss her. Another day without Ms. Green coming home." Muttering to himself, he turned to sweep the yard.

Then suddenly, the sound of a car engine came from the distance. Howard dropped the broom at once. The moment he saw the sports car outside the gate, his whole face lit up and he hurried over.

"Mr. Blackwood is here."

But when he saw Thora step out of the passenger seat, his eyes went wide. He shouted in excitement, "Ms. Green! My God! Ms. Green is back!"

Howard fumbled the gate open and rushed to Thora, looking her up and down over and over, tears already in his eyes.

"Ms. Green, you've finally come home! Heaven has answered our prayers!"

Thora was speechless. So was Darius.

"Howard, I went away to study, not to die," Thora said helplessly as she walked straight into the yard. Howard hurried after her.

Darius was already thoroughly familiar with the villa. At this point, he practically treated it like his own home.

After following Thora inside, he dropped straight onto the sofa, stretched out his long legs, and took up nearly the whole couch without a trace of self-consciousness. He checked the time, then looked up at Thora, who was heading upstairs.

"Get some rest, Thora. In two hours, I'm taking you somewhere."

Thora paused midway up the stairs and looked at him in confusion, but Darius didn't explain. He only smiled at her.

She didn't press the matter and simply nodded. "Okay."

She had just returned to the country today. The moment she got off the plane, she had gone straight to military headquarters to report in. She really did need a shower and some proper rest. As for where Darius planned to take her later, she found herself feeling a quiet spark of anticipation.

Watching her disappear down the hallway, Darius's smile deepened. Then he lay back on the sofa and closed his eyes to rest.

Thora's scent had filled the villa once more, and even with his eyes shut, it made him feel unusually at peace. It was no longer like before, when she was gone and the whole place had felt empty and cold, as though even the air had lost its warmth.

Maybe because he was so relaxed, he gradually drifted into a light sleep.

After returning to her room, Thora took a shower first, then dragged over the travel bag she had brought with her and dumped it onto the bed.

Inside were disassembled gun parts and all kinds of military supplies. Among them were also several weapons custom-made for her by the Blue Star Military Academy research division, which she had specially brought back with her.

Her hands moved swiftly. In no time, she had assembled the parts. Then she pressed the hidden mechanism beside the wardrobe, and the wall slowly slid aside to reveal a massive cabinet. It was practically a miniature armory. Heavy weapons, light weapons, cold steel, everything was there.

Thora placed the weapons she had just assembled inside, then sealed the mechanism again. After checking the time, she lay down on the bed to rest.

The whole villa was almost silent, apart from Howard humming in the kitchen while he cooked.

Two hours later, when it was time to leave with Darius, Thora woke right on schedule.

She sensed Amie stirring restlessly in her mind and reached out through their mind link. "What is it?"

Amie sounded shy, but excited. "Thora, we graduated from the military academy, and you and Darius are about to complete your bond. So... can I finally meet Darius's wolf?"
