In the extreme cold apocalypse, my biological daughter wrapped her arms around the father of her favorite classmate and pushed me out the door without mercy.

After returning, Derek and his son borrowed our place, claiming their floors needed renovation and they needed temporary housing.

The massive snowfall came on January 5th—the beginning of the cold apocalypse.

The snow continued for a month until temperatures reached minus fifty degrees.

Three months later, when the power grid collapsed, they mercilessly threw Emma and me out to search for supplies.

With transportation halted and no rescue available, I froze to death outside holding Emma.

My whole body felt like needles piercing it, breathing became difficult, blood freezing bit by bit. It was agony.

I pulled my thoughts back and glanced at my older daughter Emma, who was quietly eating without speaking.

"Emma has a piano recital on New Year's Day. We might need to go out for a trip. Why don't you have your mom take you along?"
