The Frozen Apocalypse: Betrayal and Rebirth Chapter 11

He pressed against the fire door listening, glancing at my doorway camera before going back home.

Wrapped thickly in comforters, his figure was indistinct. I could only vaguely make out a young man with glasses.

Crisis averted. I hugged Emma, panting. I regretted living in a building—should've found a villa or rural area.

Soon came another knock. I held hot water defensively, seeing it was the neighbor across.

He held up paper to the camera—a contact number.

After I added him, his name was an anime character: "Schrodinger's Second Dimension."

He video-called me. On screen was a glasses-wearing guy with curly, thick hair.

"Bro, I noticed when you moved in, but I'm a shut-in and extremely socially anxious, so I didn't open the door!"

"My work is special—sometimes I go out at night. I'm a voice actor, so you saw just now."

"You can trust me. Look at my stuff—because I don't go out either, I stockpiled lots. I'm alone and can't eat much. If you need anything, I can leave some at your door."

His camera showed a cabinet—sure enough, he also had abundant supplies.

Hearing this, my heart settled. At least the neighbor across wouldn't pose a threat currently.

"What if more people come? There's only two of us!" I blurted out.

Later we worked together to open the fire door, reinforcing it level by level, then reinforcing the ground floor unit door.

No need to consider others—we'd already seen hell on earth. Going down, almost every door stood open. In this situation, open doors meant no chance of survival.

Sure enough, families with open doors—some of three, some elderly with white hair—all lay on the ground lifeless.

Schrodinger and I looked at each other, both revealing sorrow.

"Bastards, bandits, robbers, murderers."

"Lock the whole unit door and pour water until it freezes."

Walking back, we closed every door and took photos. Reported to police who could no longer respond.

Transportation had long been paralyzed, the city covered in ice and snow.

Only three days until the power outage from my previous life.

Text messages kept warning not to open doors to strangers in extreme weather. Don't go out. Multiple malicious supply robberies had occurred.
