"I added coconut milk. The way you used to like it."

I stepped aside, ignoring the cup.

"I just ran into Miss Miller. She said you came for me."

"She's lying!"

He panicked. "I'm just here to discuss cooperation for the expo. It has nothing to do with her. I didn't know she followed me."

"Is that so?"

I raised an eyebrow. "The border ambush, the kennel, and now Switzerland. You and she have a lot of coincidences, Dante."

He fell silent.

"Elena, what do I have to do for you to believe me?"

"It doesn't matter anymore."

I walked toward the elevator. "Once the divorce is finalized, we are strangers."

"I won't terminate the contract!"

He suddenly grabbed my wrist, losing control. His voice was loud enough to startle a few Russian arms dealers nearby.

"I know I was wrong! You can't do this to me!"

I shook his hand off violently, revealing my collarbone.

The bullet pendant was gone.

"Didn't you notice? I threw away everything you gave me long ago. You want to talk about remarriage? Find that pendant first."

I gave him a seemingly possible task, knowing full well I had melted it down.

But Dante grasped at it like a lifeline. He filed for a flight back home immediately, heading straight for the kennel and the waste processing plant.

The workers told him it had been cleared countless times. But he made his men dig through every pile of scrap, checking the incinerator backups from six months ago.

When he saw the footage of the factory again, Dante punched the console, shattering the screen.

"Boss! Found it!"

A subordinate ran in holding a small object wrapped in a tissue. It was covered in rust and ash.

It was half a melted metal shell recovered from the slag heap.
