My mother called, asking if I truly had no money.

I thought about it and told her, "There's still three hundred dollars of middle school savings in my piggy bank at home."

She cried on the other end. "We planned to raise that thirty thousand through sob-story livestreams."

"Who knew not only would the money be frozen, but our neighbors won't help us anymore and gossip behind our backs."

I knew all this. Worse yet, now they not only had to compensate the car owner for repairs but also faced a lawsuit for damaging his reputation.

"Is he even human? He's so rich—does he need that money?"

"Tyler's so young. Couldn't he be flexible instead of so heartless?"

"If we'd just continued livestreaming, thirty thousand wouldn't have been a problem. Why won't he just leave us alone!"

I followed her logic and asked, "So what now? The family owes so much money, and Tyler can't even go to school."

Hearing this, my mother said furiously, "It's all your sister-in-law's fault! We told her to educate Tyler properly—she's useless! Tyler's like this now, and the family owes so much money. It's all her fault!"

She lamented, "My poor grandson, how can his life be so bitter?"

I offered comfort verbally but sneered inwardly.

Her favorite thing was shifting blame to others, never thinking about how she'd spoiled Tyler all these years.

In my previous life, it was also her gossiping behind my back that eventually caused Sarah to lose control, storm into my practice, and kill me.

Now in this life, the tables had turned—she was gossiping to me about Sarah.

While we were talking, an argument broke out on the other end. Sarah had heard my mother's complaints:

"Mom, what do you mean? Is Tyler turning out like this my fault? Haven't you been indulging him?"

Marcus was displeased. "How dare you talk to my mother like that? This is my house, not yours. Who are you yelling at!"

Sarah screamed shrilly, "Marcus Morrison, what did you promise me? How many times did I abort for your family to have a son? How much suffering did I endure? Is this how you treat me now? I want a divorce!"

My mother laughed coldly:

"As a Morrison daughter-in-law, isn't it your duty to give us sons to continue the family line?"

"You've enjoyed years of comfort in our family. Now that Tyler's in trouble, you want to divorce and run away, leaving my son and me to pay the debts? I'm telling you—you wish!"

Sarah wailed heartbrokenly, "I don't care! You figure out how to pay the money yourselves. I can't manage this child anymore!"

I quickly advised, "Mom, the urgent matter is paying the money first. Otherwise, they'll definitely keep after us. They might even add interest. It's thirty thousand now—in a while it might be forty-five thousand!"

"Tyler's the grandson you worked so hard to get. If you can't protect him, our ancestors will break our spines!"

My mother startled and immediately stopped Sarah from hitting the child.

I heard them saying they'd sell the house and car to pay the money and definitely send Tyler back to school.
