Bonded to My Ex's Alpha Brother Chapter 147
Erin's POV
I raced through the Darkwood Forest, my heart pounding steadily in my chest. My brown fur made me visible even in the darkness—a tactical disadvantage I was well aware of. Behind me, five wolves pursued with determined growls, their heavy paws thumping against the forest floor.
My muscles burned from exertion. I'd been running for hours, pushing my body to its limits, but I wasn't afraid. This was a test of my endurance, my strength. I listened to their movements, calculating the distance between us. They were slowing down. I wasn't.
The lead wolf's frustrated voice broke through the mind link: "Where did she go?"
"How can an Omega run this fast?" another complained, his mental voice strained with exhaustion. "We've been chasing her for hours, and she's still ahead of us!"
I slowed my pace just enough to catch my breath, ears alert to their conversation. My paws barely made a sound on the soft forest floor as I navigated between trees with practiced ease.
"We'll split up and surround her. She can't outrun all of us forever," the lead wolf decided.
I heard them separate, moving in different directions to cut off my escape routes. My pulse quickened, but not from fear—from anticipation. They thought they were the hunters. I needed to show them who really was.
---
I approached the lake at the center of Darkwood territory, my throat dry from the long run. I lowered my head to drink, feeling the cool water against my tongue. My muscles ached pleasantly from the exertion.
A twig snapped in the distance. My ears twitched, and I lifted my head, water dripping from my muzzle. I didn't turn immediately, instead watching the reflection in the water. A gray wolf was approaching from the treeline, moving with purpose.
I turned slowly, meeting his gaze directly. His eyes widened slightly—surprise, then desire. I could smell his interest, sharp and primal. He approached alone, abandoning caution and strategy. Poor decision.
I stood tall, unmoving, and let out a howl that echoed across the lake. Not a call for help, but a declaration. This was my territory now.
The other four wolves emerged from different directions, forming a semicircle around me. Their chests heaved from exertion, tongues lolling as they tried to catch their breath. I remained steady, my breathing controlled. They thought they had me trapped against the water, but I wanted them exactly where they were.
"What are you waiting for?" the lead wolf demanded through the mind link. "Grab her!"
I didn't back away. Instead, I walked forward, directly toward them. My steps were measured, deliberate. I could see confusion flicker across their faces. This wasn't how an Omega was supposed to behave.
"Why are you all here?" I projected through the mind link, pushing my thoughts into their minds with ease.
The lead wolf's ears flattened against his head in shock. "How are you doing this? You're just an Omega. How do you have so much energy after running for hours?"
I felt a twinge of satisfaction at their confusion. My abilities had grown stronger over the past year, though I'd kept them carefully hidden until now.
"You've entered Darkwood Pack territory," I informed them, watching their reactions closely. "Are you rogues from Darkwood Pack?"
They exchanged glances, shifting their weight nervously. The lead wolf's tail lowered slightly.
"We're in Darkwood territory?" he asked, his mental voice less confident now.
The gray wolf stepped forward, his shoulders tense, hackles slightly raised. "I don't care where we are. It's time to catch you." His eyes fixed on me with undisguised hunger. "I want you as my mate."
I stood my ground, feeling completely calm despite being outnumbered. "You'll regret this," I stated simply. "You should leave this pack now. I don't want to hurt you."
The lead wolf barked out a laugh. "You've made us chase you for too long." His teeth gleamed in the moonlight as he snarled. "We're going to play with every part of your body for a long time."
"Beg us," another wolf joined in, circling slightly to my right. "We want to hear you cry, baby. Transform now. We can't wait to fuck you."
Their crude threats washed over me without effect. I'd heard worse. I'd experienced worse. My body tensed, preparing for what would come next.
---
I closed my eyes briefly, drawing on the power I'd discovered within myself. When I opened them again, I felt the familiar heat building behind my eyes. The energy flowed through me like electricity, gathering at my command.
I directed this force outward, focusing on each wolf in turn. Their bodies suddenly seized up, legs buckling beneath them. They collapsed to the ground, writhing and twisting unnaturally as my mental grip tightened around them.
Their howls of pain filled the night air. I walked among them calmly, my paws silent on the forest floor. I inhaled deeply, catching their scents—fear had replaced their earlier aggression.
"You know what? You smell like failure," I observed, standing over the lead wolf.
He tried to rise, a growl building in his throat. I met his eyes directly, concentrating my energy on his windpipe. His growl choked off, replaced by a strangled whimper as he struggled to breathe.
"Let us go," the gray wolf pleaded, his earlier confidence completely gone.
"How can I leave wolves who were so eager to have me?" I replied, walking around their immobilized forms. "At least let me play with you for a while."
I increased the pressure of my mental hold, watching dispassionately as they squirmed in agony. I felt nothing—no pleasure, no remorse. This was simply necessary. A message needed to be sent.
When their movements weakened and their eyes began to roll back, I released my hold slightly. One wolf, the smallest of the group, managed to lift his head.
"Who... who are you?" he gasped through our mental connection.
I paused before answering, making sure my response would be remembered. "A strong Omega who doesn't need to hide behind an Alpha for protection."
