Bonded to My Ex's Alpha Brother Chapter 206

Erin's POV

My eyes widened in horror. "How did you escape?"

"Some loyal pack members helped me," he replied. "After I got out, I challenged my father and became the Alpha of Silverpine Pack."

I felt a softness growing in my heart for Alexander—this man who had endured so much pain and betrayal. "I'm sorry for everything that happened to you, Alexander."

The doctor finished bandaging Alexander's head, and despite my protests, he insisted on driving me home. In his car, exhaustion finally caught up with me. The emotional toll of the night weighed heavily on my shoulders.

"Sleep a bit," Alexander suggested, noticing my drooping eyelids. "I'll wake you when we reach your home."

I thought about his kiss in the club, how different it had felt from Derek's, but shook my head. "I'm fine."

Despite my denial, I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, sunlight was streaming through my bedroom window. I sat up, disoriented, trying to remember how I'd gotten to my room.

"Good morning, dear," my mother said, entering with a cup of tea. "Alexander Alpha brought you in last night. You were so tired you didn't even wake up. He carried you inside and made sure you were comfortable before leaving."

I smiled, thinking about Alexander's gentleness. Despite everything he'd been through, he remained kind.

The day passed quickly as I spent time with Amy and Jack, carefully avoiding details about the previous night's club fight. By evening, I was exhausted again but content to be surrounded by friends who cared for me.

When I returned home, the house was unusually quiet. The normal sounds of my mother moving around or the TV playing softly were missing.

"Mom?" I called out, setting my bag down by the door. No response. I switched on the living room light. "Mom, I'm home!"

Still nothing. My heartbeat quickened as I checked the kitchen - empty, with a half-prepared dinner sitting on the counter. The knife laid beside partially cut vegetables.

"Mom?" My voice rose slightly as I climbed the stairs, gripping the banister tightly. "Are you upstairs? Mom?"

I pushed open her bedroom door and my entire world stopped. My mother lay crumpled on the floor beside her bed, one hand clutching her chest, her face twisted in pain even in unconsciousness.

"Mom!" I screamed, dropping to my knees beside her. I grabbed her shoulders, gently shaking her. "Mom! Can you hear me? Mom, please!"

Her skin felt clammy under my fingers. Her face was gray, her lips taking on a bluish tinge. I pressed my fingers against her neck, feeling for a pulse - it was there, but weak and irregular.

My hands shook violently as I fumbled for my phone, nearly dropping it twice before managing to dial 911. The few seconds waiting for the operator to answer felt like hours.

"911, what's your emergency?" The calm voice on the other end seemed to come from a different world.

"My mother—" my voice broke, and I had to force the words out. "My mother collapsed! I think she's having a heart attack! She's unconscious, she's barely breathing!" I rattled off our address, my words tumbling over each other.

"Is she responsive at all? Can you check if she's breathing?" the operator asked.

I leaned down, putting my ear near my mother's mouth. "She's breathing, but it's really shallow. Please hurry! She has a history of heart problems. Please—" I couldn't stop the sob that escaped me.

"The ambulance is on its way," the operator assured me. "Stay on the line. Is she lying flat?"

I nodded stupidly before realizing they couldn't see me. "Yes, on the floor. Should I move her? Do something? Please tell me what to do!"

"Don't move her. Just stay with her until the paramedics arrive."

I clutched my mother's cold hand in mine, willing her to open her eyes, to squeeze my fingers, to give me any sign. "Mom, please hold on. Help is coming. Please don't leave me."

The minutes stretched endlessly as I waited, keeping the phone pressed to my ear while my free hand brushed hair from my mother's forehead. Every second felt like torture as I watched her shallow breathing, terrified each breath might be her last.

The hospital corridors were blindingly white as I ran alongside the stretcher carrying my mother. "This is an emergency!" a nurse called out, pushing me back as they wheeled her through double doors.

Left alone in the waiting area, I paced back and forth, unable to sit still. I kept seeing my mother's ashen face, remembering her previous heart attack. She'd been looking paler lately—how had I not noticed how serious it was?

After what felt like an eternity, a doctor I hadn't seen before approached me. His expression was grave.

"Ms. Blackwood, your mother has suffered a severe heart attack. She needs immediate surgery, but I must warn you—the success rate is only about fifty percent."

"Fifty percent?" I echoed, my voice breaking. "But you have to do it, right? You have to save her!"

The doctor nodded solemnly. "We'll do everything we can, but I need you to sign the consent forms."

At the reception desk, I scanned the document quickly. The hospital would not be responsible if the surgery failed. I tried calling Aaron, but my call went straight to voicemail.

"Why does this have to happen today?" I whispered to myself, signing the forms with a shaking hand.

When I returned to the waiting area outside the operating room, I was surprised to find several men in enforcer uniforms standing guard. A chill ran down my spine as I approached the doctor.

"I've signed the papers," I told him, pushing the folder into his hands. "Please start the surgery now. I'll pay the fees after the operation."

The doctor remained silent, avoiding my gaze.

"Doctor," I said, panic rising in my voice, "why aren't you starting the surgery? Save my mother!"

Finally, he looked at me, regret evident in his eyes. "I'm sorry, Ms. Blackwood. We cannot begin the surgery now."

One of the enforcers turned to me, his face impassive. "Ms. Blackwood, Alpha Derek has commanded you to meet him immediately, or your mother's surgery will not proceed."
