Bonded to My Ex's Alpha Brother Chapter 207

Erin's POV

I stared at the doctor in disbelief, certain I had misheard her. The fluorescent lights of the hospital corridor suddenly seemed too bright, the antiseptic smell too strong. My mother's pale face flashed in my mind—her lips blue, her breathing shallow as they had wheeled her away.

"You-you just said what?" I stammered, my voice cracking.

The middle-aged doctor with graying hair at her temples avoided my gaze. "You need to go to Stone Group. He's there. Without the Alpha's permission, doctors cannot begin treatment for your mother."

My stomach dropped as if I'd been pushed from a cliff. "Are you all insane? My mother will die!" I nearly shouted, drawing glances from passing nurses. "She needs surgery now!"

The doctor's expression tightened, but her voice remained firm. "I'm sorry, Miss Blackwood. Those are the rules. As hospital staff, we cannot disobey the Alpha's commands. You'd better get permission quickly."

I turned toward the closed operating room doors, knowing my mother lay just beyond them, her life slipping away with each passing second. Without thinking, I rushed forward and pounded on the doors.

"Let me in! Please! She's my mother!"

Two nurses intercepted me, gently but firmly pulling me back as the doctor approached, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Miss Blackwood, please calm down. You're only wasting time this way. The sooner you get the Alpha's permission, the sooner your mother can receive treatment."

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to think clearly. The doctor was right. Making a scene wouldn't save Mom. I needed to find Derek, no matter how much I loathed the idea.

"Has Alexander been discharged?" I asked, remembering his head injury from the previous night.

"Yes, Alpha Windsor was discharged last night."

I nodded, turning toward the hospital exit. I pulled out my phone and dialed Alexander's number, but it went straight to voicemail. I cursed under my breath and tried again with the same result.

Outside the hospital, I hailed a taxi, my hands trembling.

"Stone Group headquarters, please. As fast as you can."

The driver nodded and pulled into the busy streets. I leaned against the seat, feeling tears begin to well up. I angrily wiped them away, but they kept coming. My chest burned with hatred for Derek.

How could he? How could he play with my mother's life this way? Was it him who ordered the hospital not to operate on my mother? This was cruel, even for Derek.

I knew why he was doing this. He wanted me to cancel the binding ceremony with Alexander. But using my mother's life as leverage? This crossed a line I didn't think even he would cross.

My inner wolf growled in fury, pushing against my control. *He's trying to trap us again*, it snarled. *He wants to own us*.

The taxi stopped in front of the towering Stone Group building in the heart of downtown. I paid the fare and stumbled out. Looking up at the glass and steel skyscraper, I felt momentarily dizzy with a mixture of fear and rage.

The lobby of Stone Group was spacious and bright, but I barely noticed my surroundings. I walked directly to the reception desk.

"I need to see Derek Stone," I said, my voice surprisingly calm, a stark contrast to the storm raging inside me.

The security personnel at the desk looked at me once, as if they had been expecting me. He didn't ask for my name or my business, just simply pointed toward the elevator.

"Top floor. He's waiting for you in his private gym."

He's waiting for me? This confirmed my suspicions—this was all orchestrated by him. I entered the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor, feeling my body tremble with anger.

When the elevator doors opened, I found myself in a spacious foyer surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. Through a half-open glass door, I saw Derek.

He was shirtless, his body glistening with sweat, throwing what looked like specialized training darts. Each throw landed precisely in the center of the target. His back muscles tensed with each movement, displaying the strength of an Alpha werewolf.

I walked into the gym, feeling my inner wolf stir. Her anger merged with mine. I felt my eyes shift to amber, wild and hateful.

No, I told myself, forcibly suppressing my inner wolf. I couldn't lose control here. I needed to save my mother. My eyes returned to their normal brown, but the fire of rage still burned inside me.

Derek didn't turn around, but he spoke: "I knew you would come." His voice was calm and confident. "You're always so predictable, Erin."

He threw another dart, hitting the bullseye perfectly.

"Only by listening to me can you save your mother."

My gaze shifted to a rack of darts placed on a nearby table. There, neatly arranged, were about a dozen shiny silver darts.

"What do you want me to do?" I asked through gritted teeth.

Derek turned around, his chest gleaming with sweat, his eyes looking directly into mine. "All you need to do is sign a few documents. I'll tell them to start the surgery—"

His words were cut off as he saw my expression. I had lost control. In that moment, all my rationality was consumed by rage. I rushed toward the dart rack, grabbed a silver dart, and without hesitation, plunged it into Derek's chest.

Derek's eyes widened as he stared at me in shock. He looked down at the dart protruding from his chest, just centimeters from his heart.

"You don't even care about my mother's life," I hissed, my eyes shifting back to amber. "How could you do this?"

Derek didn't answer. He just stared at me, his eyes filled with disbelief. He noticed that my hand hadn't trembled when I stabbed him.

"What?" I mocked. "Didn't you once say that the day I could pierce your heart without my hand shaking would be the day I deserved to be your enemy?"

I reached out and pulled the dart from his chest, blood immediately flowing from the wound, soaking his chest. I stepped back, holding the bloodied dart.

"I would have killed you today, but this is just a warning," I said coldly. "Tell the doctors to start treating my mother. If she doesn't make it, next time I will kill you myself."
