Choosing Between a Vampire and a Werewolf Chapter 10
I didn't want to talk more with him. The wedding was approaching—I needed to return to the palace to prepare.
I stood and quickly tried to leave around him. But Darian grabbed me with bloodshot eyes.
"I won't let you go. Since kind words don't work, don't blame me for using force."
"This love potion cost me dearly. Once you drink it, your heart and eyes will hold only me."
"You'll help me defeat the snow wolf tribe and obediently marry me and stay by my side."
"Be good. Drink it obediently."
Darian forcibly grabbed my mouth. The earlier drug's effects lingered—my body was soft, unable toresist.
I struggled desperately, but it was useless. Just as the liquid was about to pour into my mouth, the door was suddenly kicked open with a bang.
I immediately widened my eyes to see Cillian rushing in with his sword.
He thrust the blade at Darian with all his strength.
To dodge, Darian finally released me. I coughed violently, feeling terrified.
The two fought fiercely. Soon Darian was no match—Cillian pierced his shoulder, blood flowing freely.
Cillian then came to my side and pulled me into his arms, his tone full of remorse.
"I'm sorry. I didn't protect you."
His whole body trembled lightly. He looked truly frightened.
Only then did I relax and smile, looking up to hug him back.
"You came just in time. Thank you, my husband."
Cillian really was easily embarrassed. Just those two words turned his cheeks and ears completely red.
He gently lifted me and strode outside.
Darian lay on the ground, blood loss making him barely conscious, staring at me intently.
I didn't want to spare him even half a glance.
After Cillian and I left, the snow wolf tribe immediately attacked.
Darian's pack was leaderless and defeated without a fight.
Darian was also publicly executed by the snow wolf king, who incorporated his people. The wolf tribe was thus unified.
Here, Cillian carried me back to the siren palace. He had physicians examine me thoroughly, finally relaxing only after confirming I was unharmed.
Our wedding proceeded as scheduled. Cillian prepared everything grandly.
The road from siren territory to vampire territory was covered with flowers and red silk, looking beautiful and festive.
Before arriving at vampire territory, I'd been somewhat worried about how dark their dwelling place would be.
As long as it wasn't pitch black where you couldn't see your hand, I felt I could endure it.
But arriving at the location and stepping off the carriage, I discovered it was bright as day.
Looking carefully, the surrounding walls were all embedded with countless luminous pearls, emitting a soft white glow.
My nose instantly stung. I blinked rapidly to hold back tears.
Cillian awkwardly wrung his hands: "I heard you're afraid of the dark, so I had people arrange these. I said I wouldn't let you regret it."
He worked up courage to take my hand: "Let me show you to our chambers."
I nodded and followed him. The closer we got, the more familiar it felt.
Entering the chambers, my tears finally couldn't be held back.
The layout and furnishings inside, even the bedding, were identical to my chambers.
I suddenly turned and hugged him, letting my tears soak his clothes.
"Thank you."
Whether in my past life or this one, thank you for everything you've done for me.
How fortunate I was to meet such a vampire whose heart and eyes held only me.
Epilogue
Life after marriage was happy and peaceful. His spiritual power grew stronger—he no longer feared sunlight.
He often accompanied me traveling to various tribes, where I made new friends and brought back many curious trinkets.
Occasionally I'd dream back to my last life's experiences at midnight, waking up crying from distress.
Cillian never asked too many questions, just carefully comforted and cared for me.
I no longer hid anything, telling him everything about my past life, and demanding he admit why, when we'd barely interacted in that life, he was so devastated after my death.
Blushing, he said that from the first time he saw me, he'd fallen in love.
And sank deeper ever since.
What a coincidence—so did I. Every day I felt myself loving him more and more.
Years passed peacefully. We had children—beautiful half-siren, half-vampire babies who inherited the best traits of both our races.
One evening, as we watched our children playing in the courtyard under the glow of the luminous pearls, Cillian pulled me close.
"Do you ever think about that life?" he asked softly.
I leaned into him. "Sometimes. But only to remind myself how lucky I am now."
"I was given a second chance, and this time I chose right."
Cillian's arms tightened around me. "I would have waited a thousand lifetimes for you to choose me."
"Even in that life when you chose him, I never stopped loving you. I just... I didn't know how to make you see me."
My heart ached sweetly. "You don't have to wait anymore. I see you now. I see only you."
He kissed my forehead gently. "And I will spend every day of this life making sure you never regret choosing me."
I smiled against his chest. "I already told you—I don't regret it. Not for a single moment."
Our children's laughter filled the air. The luminous pearls cast their gentle glow over us.
This was my home. This was my family. This was the life I'd been reborn to find.
And it was perfect.
