Choosing Between a Vampire and a Werewolf Chapter 9
After bidding farewell to the king, I slowly walked back to my chambers. In my own palace, I inevitably let down my guard.
As a result, someone drugged and knocked me unconscious from behind.
When I woke again, I'd been abducted to the wolf den.
Darian sat haggard before me. Seeing me wake, he immediately came over with delight.
"Bella, you're awake. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
I pressed my throbbing head, extremely annoyed.
"Wolf King, if you have business, you could have simply invited me. What's the meaning of these underhanded methods?"
Darian wasn't angry at all. Instead, he tried to come closer and hug me. I dodged with an unpleasant expression.
"I've already bound with Cillian. Please don't get handsy and keep your distance."
But Darian suddenly seemed urgent and excited.
"Bella, it's all wrong. Everything's wrong. You should marry me."
"Do you know? I was reborn. In my last life, you married me. I unified the wolf tribe and we were very happy."
"Maybe my rebirth caused everything to go off track. I've already killed Faye. I'll have only you, just like last time."
"Will you marry me again? We'll live well together and have several lovely children."
I stared at him blankly, feeling only bone-chilling cold in that instant.
He killed Faye? That was a living life!
She was someone he couldn't forget for a lifetime, the first person he sought after being reborn. Now he so casually told me he'd killed Faye!
Then what did killing me to avenge her in my last life mean?
How ridiculous and pathetic.
"Darian, it's not your rebirth that changed this life's trajectory—I was also reborn."
"After how you treated me in my last life, do you think I'd still choose you?"
"Don't these lies make you feel disgusted?"
Darian looked utterly disbelieving, stubbornly shaking his head: "Impossible. This is impossible."
I sneered: "So can you let me go now?"
Darian blocked my path: "I don't agree. I was bewitched before. Now I've discovered I like you. I can't watch you marry someone else."
"Trust me one more time. I'll be very good to you, just like when I first saved you."
I lowered my eyes. He really was good to me then, constantly attentive and caring.
But later I overheard subordinates talking with him and learned even our first meeting was staged by him.
With the snow wolf tribe pressing closer, a subordinate mentioned the siren Holy Maiden's voice could calm werewolves' agitation on full moon nights.
So he had people track my movements. The moment I left siren territory, he released uncivilized wolves, then found the perfect moment to play hero and save the beauty.
Our meeting and acquaintance were all an act. How could I trust him again?
