Choosing Between a Vampire and a Werewolf Chapter 3
I turned away in disgust and strode off.
Finally returning to my familiar chambers and curling up on the bed, my mood hadn't improved much.
I touched my intact throat, feeling only fear.
In my last life, I'd wandered into wolf territory and was surrounded by dozens of uncivilized wolves, about to die.
Darian appeared and saved me, considerately escorting me home.
He was the gray wolf clan leader—capable, handsome. I inevitably fell in love with him.
After marriage, though he was somewhat cold, I always thought it was just his personality.
I never imagined he was using me from start to finish.
I wondered if he felt the same way about his little sweetheart.
I shook my head, not wanting to think about it. Since heaven gave me a chance to be reborn, this life I definitely wouldn't repeat the same mistakes.
The next day, I rose early as usual to pay respects to the king at the palace.
Passing the garden, I heard sounds and a familiar voice.
"Ryan, did I do something wrong to make the Holy Maiden so angry?"
I hid carefully behind the bushes. I saw Darian tenderly pull Faye into his arms.
"She's just abusing her power. Bear with it for now. Once she leaves siren territory, I'll capture her for you to deal with as you please."
I instinctively clenched my hands, suppressing the surging anger in my heart.
Faye couldn't help but feel pleased, then said falsely:
"But the snow wolf tribe is about to attack. If we offend the Holy Maiden and she helps them attack us, what do we do?"
As she spoke, she began to sob.
"It's all my fault. If not for me, Ryan, you wouldn't have offended the Holy Maiden."
"Why don't you just marry her? Compared to unifying the wolf tribe, my suffering doesn't matter."
Darian hurriedly wiped away her tears, his tone urgent with comfort.
"Faye, what are you saying? I was reborn to marry you. Nothing is more important than you!"
Faye looked confused. Darian began to explain.
His tone was smug: "Don't worry, Bella loves me to her bones. You don't know—in my last life, to help my people get through the full moon night safely,"
"She sang all night long. When I returned after defeating the snow wolf tribe the next day, she came to congratulate me. Tsk, her voice was hoarse—it sounded disgusting."
"So I took the opportunity to slash her throat, avenging you too."
Faye burst out laughing: "That's too stupid. What a shame I didn't see her expression."
I bit hard on the soft flesh in my mouth, my eyes unbearably sore.
In my last life, I'd sung for him until my throat was hoarse and bleeding, as if tens of thousands of needles were simultaneously piercing my throat. The pain was unbearable.
Even suffering like that, I was still happy to have helped Darian.
I went joyfully to welcome his triumph, only to meet such an end.
Darian was still gloating: "So when Bella says she didn't choose me, it's completely unbelievable."
"Her treating me like that yesterday was just losing her temper out of jealousy. She probably regretted it all night."
"When I need her, I just have to crook my finger and she'll come running over like a dog to help me."
"After I unify the wolf tribe, once she's no longer useful, I'll throw her to reward the tribesmen, then grandly welcome you through the door."
