Choosing Between a Vampire and a Werewolf Chapter 6
I could only swallow my words and walk up to the altar with Cillian.
The shaman brought out an intricate, ancient scroll. Cillian and I each placed our hands on it.
Delicate red threads extended from our fingers, slowly weaving our names on the scroll.
As I admired it, Cillian suddenly asked: "Holy Maiden, will you regret this?"
His eyes were emotionless, just quietly watching me.
But I felt he was nervous at this moment. I slowly smiled and firmly shook my head.
"No regrets. I won't regret choosing you."
He was really so pale. When he blushed, the flush colored half his face.
Cillian looked at me and promised softly: "I will treat you well and won't let you regret choosing me."
Seeing his determined eyes, I couldn't help but think of what happened after my death in my last life.
After Darian killed me, I didn't immediately lose consciousness.
My soul floated into the air. I saw Darian throw my blood-covered body into a mass grave without even bothering to wrap me in a straw mat.
Then he took flowers to Faye's grave, saying he regretted it, that he shouldn't have abandoned her for power.
Saying he'd killed me to avenge Faye.
My heart felt like it was being stabbed then. I didn't want to watch anymore and forced myself to float back to the mass grave.
There, I saw the devastated Cillian.
He held my corpse, sobbing quietly, saying he was sorry, that he hadn't protected me.
I was already thoroughly dead, my soul even drifted out.
But he persisted in piercing my blood vessels with his fangs, disregarding his own severely blood-depleted body.
Just continuously, over and over, sending blood into my body.
He tried to use the First Embrace to turn me into a vampire, to bring me back to life.
But it was useless. My body gradually grew stiff, no longer bleeding.
And his blood could no longer be transfused in.
Finally, he held my body and wept inconsolably.
Though already just a soul, I felt so terrible then, heartbroken to the point of suffocation.
In my last life, Cillian and I hadn't had much interaction. I didn't know he felt this way about me.
So this life, upon being reborn, I chose Cillian without hesitation.
The ceremony soon ended. The shaman calculated an auspicious date—the fifth day of next month for the wedding.
Hearing this, Cillian's eyes showed guilt: "Bella, the time is a bit rushed. I need to return to the tribe to prepare for the wedding, so I can't stay with you temporarily."
"If you encounter anything, you can message me and I'll come immediately."
I smiled and waved: "Don't worry and go back. My spiritual power is strong, and this is my territory besides. No one dares bully me."
"Just prepare our wedding well. I'll also take this time to pack my luggage."
After marriage, I'd be living in vampire territory. I needed to hurry and pack what to bring.
Cillian looked at me reluctantly several times before slowly leaving.
