Into the Alpha’s Keep Chapter 114: 114

POV Fenrir Dăneşti

I closed my eyes and focused on her, on our bond. She was terrified, dying of fear, and she was hurt, suffering from physical and emotional trauma.

I turned to leave the shed just as a she-wolf appeared in front of me.

"Your monster!" she accused.

I scoffed.

"I don't have time for this. What’s your opinion on the Eclipse wolves?"

Her curly hair was messy, she wore a simple dress and was barefoot. She had probably been sleeping when we attacked and rushed to her feet.

"You’re destroying my pack, my family. I hope Alpha Hunter finishes you off."

I gestured impatiently.

"You’ve already shared the opinion I wanted to know. Thank you, and have a nice death. And the monster is your alpha."

I lunged at her, about to snap her thin neck.

"And what makes you different from him? You attacked our territory, killing everyone, decimating everything we’ve built, ending our existence. You’re a monster like him!"

I tilted my head and pressed my lips together, reflecting.

"The difference, little beta, is that your alpha invaded my territory first, killed important people to me, and kidnapped my mate." I took a step forward, she took one back, retreating. "And someone like him should know not to mess with alphas like me, much less touch and hurt my mate. I promised to bring Eclipse to ashes, and that’s exactly what I’ll do."

She spun around and tried to run, but I was faster, grabbing her by the neck.

"You're doing all this for a she-wolf? Destroying an entire pack," she whispered, shaking her head with tears in her eyes.

A smile curved my lips.

"This is nothing compared to what I’ll do if your beloved alpha harms my mate," I whispered, my pupils growing and my eyes turning gold. "Monster or not, I don’t care about the labels they’ll give me. They dared to touch my mate, and I’m just showing them what true terror looks like for anyone who risks doing that."

I didn’t let her say anything else, forcing her neck to the right, breaking it. The bone cracked, and she softened in my arms. I dropped her, letting her limp body hit the ground.

I jumped over her body and continued on my path in search of Savannah.

Desperate screams still echoed around us. The smell of burning flesh and wood was stronger. A thick cloud was forming in the sky above our heads, from the village being destroyed, turned to dust.

There wasn’t a shred of remorse in me, nothing that made me regret or feel sorry for the lives that were being taken. Not for males, females, or pups. Only those who were meant to survive would, the wolves who still had some hope left. No one else.

The ice was melting in some places, from the fire extending from the houses consumed by flames.

My bond with Savannah reverberated in my chest, calling me to her. Every cell in my body reacted, my protective instincts taking over.

I turned into a more distant street. I smelled her scent floating from one of those houses. It was even stronger than what I had sensed in the shed.

I kicked the door open, exploding the wood against the wall. The house was simple and small. I entered, sniffing, inhaling the scent.

"She’s not here," a male voice shot.

I dragged my eyes to the sound, finding an older male. By the way he carried himself and the smell he had, he was an alpha.

Caspian.

"Where is she?" I asked in a low, threatening tone.

"My son took her to finish the ritual." I raised an eyebrow and took a step, ready to move forward and kill him. "I can’t understand what he saw in that girl. He should’ve killed her, just like her sister, on the day of the wedding. But Hunter wanted to turn them into the pack's prostitutes, he wanted to keep her alive somehow."

I walked through the house, observing the simple furniture and rooms.

"Your son is a dead male," I growled.

He sighed.

"I think Hunter has always been in love with the girl, after all. He didn’t want to get rid of her, tried to find a way to make that not happen." He shook his head. "To conclude, the girl ran from him and even found another, which hurt him deeply in his ego." I ran my finger across the kitchen counter, feeling Savannah’s strong scent right there, as well as her blood. They had hurt her in that place. "My wife wasn’t even good enough to give me a decent heir. She cuckolded me, dishonoring me, and gave me a worthless son who’s not fit to be an alpha," he continued.

I turned to Caspian and smiled.

"But on this, we’ll have to agree," I said. "Your son is indeed worthless."

"If he wasn’t so... obsessed with the girl, we would’ve conquered everything we always dreamed of."

I analyzed him with a meticulous gaze, trying to understand his true intention.

"Are you here to die?" I asked, gesturing around us. "Or can I take you to witness the death of your son first?"

He made a face.

"I’m here to make a deal with you," he declared, staring at me through his lashes.

"A deal?"

"Yes."

I almost laughed. Almost.

"I’m listening."

"I know you’re wiping out the packs, killing them all. But I offer you a proposal; I’ll tell you where my son is with your mate, and you let me go free, and let me take any she-wolf of my choice, so we can procreate and I can start Eclipse over again."

I narrowed my eyes.

"Is that all?"

"That’s all I want."

I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth.

"You know your son will die, right?"

Caspian let out a strangled laugh.

"I don’t care what happens to him. Hunter stopped being important to me when he started acting recklessly because of that bitch! Years of a carefully calculated plan, and he threw it all away because of a wounded ego." My lips curled into a smile, and a growl of warning vibrated in my chest. Caspian blinked, terrified. "Sorry, I shouldn’t have criticized Savannah in front of you."

I walked around the counter, approaching him slowly.

"So, you’ll give me your son in exchange for your freedom?"

He cleared his throat.

"I’m an old male, but not a fool. I know there are strength hierarchies in our species, so I know how to recognize when a male has more power than I do, and you do, Fenrir Dăneşti. So, yes, this is my deal with you."

I passed in front of him and studied him with my head tilted.

"Alright, I accept your deal."

He furrowed his graying brows.

"Really?"

I nodded.

"I want my mate and your son’s head. If you tell me where they are, the deal is done."

For a few seconds, silence stretched over us as Caspian analyzed every fleeting reaction on my face. He looked suspicious, as if deciding whether to believe me or not.

He extended his palm toward me.

"Deal done, in the name of honor?"

I gripped his hand firmly.

"Where is my mate?" I hissed the question.

"To the south, there’s a small road that leads into the closed forest. Keep going, and you’ll find a cave in the middle of the rocks, it belonged to Alpha Bason. Hunter took Savannah there."

I broke into a wide smile and took a deep breath.

In the blink of an eye, my hand was over his; in the next, my fingers were around his heart, plunged into his chest.

With wide eyes, unable to notice the quick movement with which I moved, he lowered his head and watched my hand disappear inside his chest.

He coughed, blood spilling from his lips, staining his chin.

"You made a deal," he whispered in a gasp.

My smile widened.

"Years ago, you made a deal with my mate’s father for her hand. And you didn’t fulfill it. You lied to her, just like I just did with you." I leaned in to whisper in his ear. "You should’ve known I’d take revenge for her, that I’d collect that debt. I promised to wipe out the Eclipse wolves, and that’s exactly what I’ll do, Alpha Caspian." His name escaped my lips with disdain.

"You bastard, liar..." He breathed heavily, his white teeth stained with blood.

"You made a blood pact, but you didn’t honor it. You’re not worthy, and you don’t have any word." I twisted my hand inside his chest, hearing him groan. "I’m here to break the damn deal once and for all. I’ll kill you and eat your heart. As soon as I walk out that door, no blood pact between you and Alpha Bowen will stand."

He had lied to my mate, deceived her for years, and dishonored her on the day of the wedding. I would never make a deal with a male like him. I avenged my she-wolf.

"You’ll burn in the valley of hell."

I laughed, shaking my hand inside him. His heart beat against my fingers, buzzing in a frantic rhythm. His life in my hands.

"Wait for me there, Alpha Caspian, leader of Eclipse. Your life ends right now."

I pulled my hand out, ripping his heart out. He gave a final sigh before his head fell back with his eyes wide open.
