Love Drug Chapter 387: Death and Blame

"I... I saw how much pain Pudding was in! Didn't you see it too?" Summer's voice rose uncontrollably as she shoved Fraser away. "It was holding the ring for us just a moment ago! It was the witness to our love—how could it suddenly die like it was poisoned?"

She rambled on, not making much sense, just speaking through a storm of emotion.

Fraser's bloodshot eyes said everything. His voice was low, trembling with grief. "I saw it all."

At that moment, Xavier stepped out of the exam room with several veterinarians behind him.

Yvette rushed forward, her face tense. “How is Pudding? Is it okay?”

Xavier looked at Fraser, his expression heavy. He simply shook his head.

It hurt him too.

He had known that dog since it was a puppy. He’d even treated it the first time it got sick.

And now, Pudding had collapsed right in front of him—and there was nothing he could do.

“It was poisoning,” Xavier said hoarsely. “It’s gone.”

Summer froze.

Then, as if in denial, she pushed forward. “No. I don’t believe it. Pudding must be sleeping. You’re all joking—I want to see it. It’s just waiting for me to wake it up!”

Fraser could see she was on the edge of a breakdown.

He wrapped an arm tightly around her waist and pulled her into his arms.

Summer struggled against him, weakly thrashing as she cried out, “Let me go, Fraser! Just let me go!”

Fraser’s voice was thick and strained. “Summer, it’s gone.”

“No! You’re all lying! It was just holding the ring, wasn’t it? I just need to see it—just one look!”

Seeing Summer like this broke Yvette’s heart. Her voice cracked as she choked out, “Summer… Pudding is gone.”

That’s when Summer stopped struggling.

It was like the words finally reached her.

And then, without warning, she collapsed.

In the hospital room, Summer slowly regained consciousness.

She woke to the murmur of men’s voices in the background.

Mike was reporting to Fraser respectfully. “Sir, we found the cause. Sienna took one of Madam’s clothes and laced it with poison. She used it to lure Pudding out. When Pudding bit the clothing and brought it back... that’s when the poisoning happened.”

Summer heard Fraser’s voice—cold and furious. “Bring her in. No matter the cost.”

She sat up, her expression icy.

Fraser turned around when he heard movement.

Mike silently stepped out and closed the door behind him.

Fraser walked over and brushed a strand of hair from her face, his voice low and hoarse. “Summer, you’re pregnant. You can’t get too worked up.”

Summer gave a bitter smile.

“So it was me... I’m the reason Pudding died. Sienna was targeting me. Pudding died because of me!”

Fraser gripped her shoulders tightly, his eyes dark and intense. His throat bobbed as he swallowed, trying to speak. “No. It’s my fault. I didn’t protect Pudding.”

Tears welled in Summer’s eyes.

Fraser couldn’t stand to see her like this. He tried to comfort her. “You’re pregnant now. Don’t overthink it. Just rest. I’ll take care of everything.”

But Summer suddenly threw his hand off her.

She glared at him. “How can you tell me to rest? So what, Pudding’s death doesn’t matter to you?!”

“Of course. All you care about is your stupid proposal!”

Her words struck him like a blade to the heart.

Fraser stood there, frozen, his blood running cold. His eyes darkened with a pain he couldn’t hide.

Summer saw the look on his face—and something inside her ached.

She hadn’t meant to say that.

But there was nowhere else for her grief to go.

Afraid of saying something even crueler, she lay back down and turned her back to him, pulling the blanket over her head.

Her voice was quiet and heavy. “I want to sleep.”

Outside the room, Xavier heard her and immediately bristled.

He stepped forward, hand on the door, but Yvette quickly blocked him.

He glared at her.

“What do you think you’re doing, storming in there like that?”
